TV is very poor - almost unwatchable and not of a remotely acceptable standard for 2025. Cottage smells of heating oil. Stairs are plain dangerous. Oven is so old settings on dials are worn away and so cooking is tricky. Bathroom downstairs is very tight. No undercupbard lighting in kitchen and no measuring jug nor stick liquidiser. No welcome pack of anything - not even some milk. Decorating is pretty bad and lots of surface wiring c. 1970. There's probably more but we left the next morning - frankly you wasted our time and money and you spoil your brand offering such a poor cottage....

We’re very sorry to hear that your stay at Chyvounder didn’t meet expectations. While we weren’t aware of the TV issues during your visit, we’ve since arranged for them to be investigated and we're pleased to report that it is fully functioning. If any items from our minimum inventory are ever missing, we’re always happy to provide them during your stay. Unfortunately, the housekeeper missed the fresh milk when delivering the local biscuits—we sincerely apologise for that oversight. Regarding the oil smell near the Aga, we’re unsure of the cause but pleased to report that it is no longer present. Chyvounder was redecorated two years ago in a style sympathetic to its heritage, and we do advise that, due to its age, the cottage features low doorways, steep steps, and other charming quirks. We’re sorry it wasn’t quite the right fit for you, but we truly appreciate your thoughtful feedback—it helps us improve and ensure a better experience for future guests. Julie, Customer Support...

Mrs Barrett September 2024
We had a relaxing 5 nights in the cottage and it felt quite homely. Couldn’t believe the silence at night, only an owl to be heard. Clean and comfy cottage with a large secure garden for our small dog to wander in. Nice big kitchen to enjoy a leisurely breakfast in listening to the radio. Used our time in Cornwall to visit Truro, Falmouth, St Ives and Flushing. Had a very fab time. Thanks for having us! ...

Mrs Upchurch April 2024
We enjoyed our stay at Chyvounder. It's a lovely warm, cosy & comfortable cottage and we had a very relaxing & enjoyable few days, we just wished that we could have stayed longer. We liked, especially, that we were able to shop locally by taking a short walk across the fields to Mylor village and find all the grocery items we required plus fresh fish & a butcher's shop too. Lovely walks along the coast path, almost from the doorstep - fabulous....
