This was our first whole family holiday for ten years and we returned to the beach we all grew to love when we lived in the area in the 90s, and revisited several times annually until 2015. Dolphin Cottage helped the trip live up to our high expectations, with comfortable communal rooms for 8 adults & a baby and plenty of personal spaces both in bedrooms and garden areas for people to enjoy peace & quiet. There was daily excitement as new memories grew from childhood recollections - drinks at the Pilchard Inn, meals at the unique Journey's End, dips in the sea after using the beach sauna, rides on the sea tractor; most of all, the chance to walk the shifting sands and enjoy the serene morning magic or the dramatic sunset glow. Superb attentive support from local staff when there was an unexpected event in the village. And easy access for couples to have daily adventures - Salcombe, Dartmoor Zoo, Theatre Royal, Yealmpton Woods, Paignton to name but a few - then share their tales in the evening. How joyous to be back. Sunshine, rain, sea mist. Waves, rockpools, seaweed. Flowers, snails, more snails. Laughter, smiles, JOY! ...

We had a lovely stay at Dolphin House. We were 8 adults and felt there was plenty of room for us all. House was very comfy and well equipped, nice balcony area and garden, so plenty of space for all. Great location with beach across the road, lovely area for walks, would recommend and would happily go again if we do another big family holiday. ...

This was our second stay at Dolphin House, after many years of staying in other holiday homes in Bigbury on Sea. The house is extremely well equipped with everything you need for a comfortable holiday close to the beach. Our party was multi generational- Great Grandad, 94 and the youngest child 3. We were on the beach every day - making use of the kayaks and body boards and taking our own paddle board. We had a Tesco delivery and cooked some great meals in the fantastically equipped kitchen, but also had fish and chips/ burgers on the beach from Venus Cafe one evening and tasty pizzas from the van at Mount Folly Farm on our last night. The children enjoyed a trip to Kingsbridge on our one drizzly morning where they did a decoupage session at Paper Bird which was fun- but they were keen to return to the beach afterwards! We hope to return again next year. ...

Dolphin House is a beautiful place within a few minutes walk to the beach.It is a huge,well equipped house with plenty of outside space but very private.We used the paved/drive area to play with our grandchildren as it is flat.
Good or bad, we publish all the reviews left by the guests who have stayed in this cottage, with the few exceptions stated in our Review Guidelines.
