Mrs Bristowe August 2018
We stayed for 1 week at Solent View and WOW what a place. Jill met us on arrival. The place was spotless. The cottage is just over the road from the 'Little Gloster' It's expensive but well worth it for a treat. Gurnard is a wonderful base or place not to move from. The restaurants are all fantastic and all have extremely friendly staff. The walk to Cowes is about 40 minutes. Its a lovely easy walk along the promenade. Walking right into Gurnard is lovely but very hilly. We did it a number of times with the children. It takes about 10-15 minutes depending on how fit you are. We had a couple of rainy days so went over to Gurnard Pines where they have a leisure center. You can pay as you go and they have a lovely play area for the kids and a big pool. My husband used the Gym. The cottage has a wonderful garden which is totally enclosed, a big decking area and a shed at the end of the garden which the kids used as a den. The views are amazing. The only downside for us was the beds. I would have happily given this lovely cottage 5 stars or more but the beds were so hard we barely slept. I appreciate its personal choice but seriously the decking was better to sleep on. I would suggest either replacing them or providing toppers. One of the single beds squeaked so much it woke the children when one moved. This is such a shame as we would be back like a shot as apart from the beds this place has so much to offer. With so much to do on this wonderful island, you need to be able to have a good nights sleep. I have given 4 stars because I can't rate this place enough. Perfectly located and a very comfortable cottage. The beds lost the 5th star.

Thank you for your review of Solent View - we're so glad you liked it and it certainly sounds like you made the most of everything the area has to offer. Mattress comfort is a very personal preference and it can be quite tricky to find something to suit everyone but we've asked the Property Manager to have a look when she next visits the property. If you want to be in a seaside resort in the middle of the hustle and bustle then this location would not be if you. If you want a delightfully relaxing location with superb facilities - space and time to think and relax then this is for you! Nowhere on the Isle of Wight is far away - a great location for exploring and a great space to come back to after a busy day of exploring the glorious island !

Great location, lovely holiday feel and good quality fixtures and fittings. Fabulous for a family of 4 break on the IOW.

Disappointed with the noisy area particularly at night and in the early hours with people using the B/B opposite. Nice little place but spoilt by the position.

We were so sorry to see that you found this area noisy at night. We've not previously had any reports of disturbance and the owner (who also lives locally) has assured us that the area is ordinarily very quiet. It would seem that you may have been disturbed by some inconsiderate guests at a nearby guesthouse. We can only apologise and assure you that this is not usual for the property, as guests normally find the location great. However, we were very pleased that you enjoyed the house regardless. Just liked everything about it. An ideal spot for those that like sailing. Brilliant for a general Isle of Wight Holiday at any time of the year.
