The Hideaway was without doubt one of the best cottages we have ever rented. Everything was so clean and well equipped everything we wanted was there. The owners Richard and Judy were wonderful from the minute we arrived nothing was too much trouble for them they were absolutely brilliant. This is definitely a property we would like to return to in the future.

June 2019

We have just returned from a very pleasant week at The Hideaway. This beautiful, tastefully furnished cottage was surpassed only by the hospitality of the owners. Richard was a wealth of local information and tended the log burner at our request so that we were met by this cosy atmosphere on our return from a day's travelling. Judy provided us with a lovely cream tea on arrival and Molly dog was an absolute treasure. Difficult to leave. Would recommend to any discerning traveller. Clifton & Francine

What a lovely review - thanks so much for the taking the time to let us know your thoughts. We're over the moon that you had such an enjoyable stay. It sounds like the cream tea really hit the spot and you really can't beat being welcomed home to a roaring wood-burner - bliss! Hopefully we can welcome you back soon. Tressa, Customer Support

April 2019

From the very warm welcome received by the owners Richard & Judy, along with the log burner being lit on arrival , plus an excellent home made Cornish cream tea was the perfect start to our short break at the Hideaway. We were very fortunate as the wet and cold weather turned into a gloriously sunny hot Easter so to have the added bonus of sitting out and enjoying the beautiful garden and patio area added even more to our stay in this very well equipped and comfy cottage and we hope to visit again soon.

October 2018

A fabulous one bedroom cottage with everything you need for your stay. Close to lots of places to visit. Would definitely recommend it .

April 2018

My husband and I had a lovely stay at the Hideaway which exceeded expectations. The beautiful cottage is ideally situated for exploring this wonderful part of the country - lots to do and places to visit. The cottage is extremely well equipped, comfortably furnished and spotlessly clean which is the most important factor for me. The bed is very comfortable. We were welcomed by Richard, a lovely gentleman and Judy provided a delicious cream tea with homemade black currant jam. It was so nice to return in the evenings to find our slippers warming by the log burner which Richard lit for us each day. Richard and Judy are friendly and helpful without being intrusive. They have a beautiful garden which guests can use. Thank you Richard and Judy and not forgetting their lovely dog Molly who came to say hello everyday, for a lovely visit and we hope to return soon.

April 2018

Our second visit to the Hideaway and once again we received a warm welcome from Richard and Judy - including a lovely cream tea with home made jam. It is set in the pleasant surroundings of their well stocked and maintained garden, and is well located for numerous surrounding attractions.

March 2018

We had a lovely time at the Hideaway, the location was perfect for exploring north and south Cornwall and very handy for the supermarkets in St Austell as well. Judy and Richard (and Molly the dog) were very friendly and helpful and just next door if needed. The Hideaway was really well equiped and a comfy place to put your feet up especially after a good day out.

November 2017

The cottage has been attractively furnished and the heating works well on a cold day. There were details of tourist attractions provided, as well as a diverse book shelf. An ideal very quiet retreat for two but close enough for visits to local attractions.

October 2017

Wonderful people who run it. Lovely welcome. Very comfortable property.

October 2017

A lovely one bed cottage, clean, comfortable and a well equipped kitchen. All I looked for in a holiday cottage. The owners - Richard and Judy - live next door and couldn't be more helpful or welcoming. From a cream tea on arrival to treats for the dog. The weather was cool and often damp during my stay but really cosy with the log burner kindly lit by Richard each evening. Not for you if you want a sea view but ideally placed for reaching all parts of Cornwall.

September 2017

Lovely cottage and lovely owners.

May 2017

March 2016

The cottage is lovely, equipped with everything you could possibly need, and well maintained. Richard and Judy were perfect hosts, very friendly and helpful. They keep their garden very well maintained, which makes for a very pleasant view when you get up in the morning / return later on. The log fire burner is perfect for the evenings if you happen to go at a colder time of year, as we did. It's also very well located for exploring the surrounding area, off a fairly quiet but well maintained road, with easy access to the A390.

October 2015

August 2015

We really enjoyed our week in the Hideaway. It's ideally located for exploring Cornwall by car, both south and north coasts. The cottage was superbly equipped, and everything was spotless and in pristine condition. Owners Judy and Richard were so welcoming, friendly and helpful throughout our stay. They live just next door, so always available but never intrusive. The Hideaway benefits from being surrounded by the owners' extensive and beautiful gardens. It's completely quiet and restful, being set back away from the road, which in any case is never busy. Overall highly recommended as a comfortable base for exploring Cornwall.

April 2015

It is in a convenient location for all attractions in this part of Cornwall and although handy for the main road it is very quietly positioned in the beautifully maintained owners' garden, and who are extremely helpful and friendly, without being intrusive. It has a spacious lounge, fitted kitchen and large bedroom with super 6' bed.

The location enabled us to visit towns like Charleston, Fowey, Truro and St Ives, which are all within easy reach of the cottage. The cottage was spotlessly clean and finished to a high standard. Nothing was too much trouble for Richard and our every need was catered for, a lovely cottage.

May 2014

The Hideway is a beautiful cottage adjacent to the home of Richard and Judy. A fantastic place to be with everything that you needed. It's location is central to Cornwall giving great access to the County. Richard and Judy couldn't have been better hosts. Clotted cream, jam and scones on arrival and lots of help and advise if you needed it. Our first cottage holiday and it was fantastic.

May 2014

The welcome from Richard and Judy was especially warm and friendly as was that from Molly (their dog). Richard and Judy are rightly proud of their place and their hospitality is genuine. They also know not to smother guests and we felt we had complete privacy even though they live next door. The home made cornish cream tea and courtesy tea, coffee and milk on arrival was much appreciated. Lovely stay and would recommend to others!

September 2013

We found The Hideaway to be a perfect holiday cottage for 2 people (plus our little dog). The cottage exceeded all our expectations and was very comfortable. The owners, Judy and Richard have thought of everything - even providing some 'doggy treats' for our Yorkshire Terrier and were incredibly welcoming.

We would have no hesitation in recommending The Hideaway to family and friends and would love to stay again in the future.

August 2013

The hideaway is a lovely comfortable cottage with all mod cons. Plenty of storage space in the bedroom and well equipped kitchen with all mod cons with heaps of storage. Everything provided for - fresh eggs if required. Richard and Judy are very accommodating hosts and nothing is too much trouble. We were very happy with our stay and would not hesitate to recommend to everyone. Short distance drive to either St Austell and Truro and a few miles from Mevagissey. Plenty of local Supermarkets within 5/10 minutes drive however also plenty of farm shops locally if preferred - can recommend Lobbs Farm shop just before Lost Gardens of Heligan.
