If you want peace and quiet,a comfortable well equipped cottage with a private dog friendly garden with outstanding views then Foxlair is the place for you. Geoff and Bev are so welcoming and friendly and there was a good welcome pack ( beautiful short bread ) Erik our springer loved playing with Ziggy the farm dog. We had a fantastic two weeks and would highly recommend this lovely cottage in an idyllic location.

This cottage is in a wonderful location for those who like peace and isolation. The hosts are interesting people who like to share what they are doing on their farm. This is also a central location for exploring the delights of Exmoor.

April 2017

Bev & Geoff are excellent hosts who are very helpful and also make you feel very welcome. We will without doubt be re-booking in the near future.

September 2016

Enjoyed our stay at foxlair. Would definitely book again.

May 2016

The welcome from Bev & Geoff was very much appreciated after a three hour drive. The home made bread, shortbread, fresh milk, butter and the bottle of wine were lovely touches. The area around the cottage is beautiful and considering it's a working farm was too peaceful for words, idyllic!

April 2016

Great cottage for two and if you are looking for somewhere to come that is away from it all, this has got to be on anyone's list!

March 2016

If like us you enjoy total peace and seclusion you will love this very well equipped and spacious property. Beautiful walks direct from the front door, and a lovely village close by where we (and our dog) were made very welcome in the Tea Rooms. An abundance of wild bird life and a herd of red deer watched us leave today. Fantastic!

February 2016

Excellent location in centre of Exmoor. Friendly and attentive owner. Clean and tidy. Wifi would have helped us plan our days, and keep in touch particularly as there is no phone signal.

Reply from Classic Cottages

We're sorry to hear you had some trouble with the WiFi signal. As you know from our email, the Owners weren't aware of any problems themselves so it could have been an intermittent provider issue, but we're delighted that it didn't spoil your stay. Bryony, Customer Support

February 2015

Foxlair Cottage was perfect for a 'getaway from it all' experience, where peace and tranquility reigned. It's in a most beautiful setting, with glorious views. The owners Bev and Geoff were two of the nicest people you could wish to meet and they made us feel very welcome. We will definitely be returning to this lovely, lovely cottage.

December 2014

Our stay in Foxlair Cottage was an excellent experience. The hospitality was incredibly generous and kind, with a wonderful welcome pack for us to enjoy (delicious!) and all amenities in the kitchen for cooking each evening. The view from the Cottage is stunning and the walks were wonderful, even with the wintery weather in Exmoor. It was also an easy drive to the coast to enjoy some time on the Coastal Path. The cottage is a perfect place to stay with a dog and the small enclosed area at the back is really good for allowing them to dry off after a long walk. Thank you for a wonderful and relaxing holiday.

October 2014

Loved the family and animals. Brilliantly presented welcome brochure - it even included walks from the property. Views from the living room were exceptional - I could view ponies on the moors with binoculars. Good variety of wild birds.

August 2013

A great little cottage with friendly owners that made us very welcome. A starter pack to die for (home made bread and shortbread amongst other things) It was the best equipped cottage we have ever had clean, and very well thought out. It also has the most wonderful view

June 2013

A very welcoming cottage, with perfect peaceful surroundings, Highly recommended, the shortbreads good too!!

June 2013

This property although one bedroomed is larger than expected and is very comfortable, clean and warm (the central heating is very efficient). The facilities available to clean your dogs up and dry them off after a walk (and there are good dog walks) is excellent and the utility room and lean to extension is an ideal sleeping and feeding area for them. We have stayed in many properties in Devon and Somerset with our dogs and this one is without a doubt the best one we have ever stayed in. The owners make you feel very welcome and provide some delightful goodies to start you off (the fresh eggs are wonderful) . We can't recommend this property highly enough, it is a gem.
