The Cathedral City of Exeter is well worth a visit. The green surrounding the cathedral has lots of places to eat and there's plenty of shops for some retail therapy.
The Grand Western Canal in Tiverton is perfect for walkers and cyclists with stunning scenery and plenty of wildlife to spot.
Pack a picnic, pull on those walking boots and head to dramatic Dartmoor where you'll find these wonderful ponies grazing freely across the moors.
If the coast is calling, there are plenty of beaches to choose from. Here you have Shaldon to left of the estuary and the traditional seaside town of Teignmouth on your right.

We booked at short notice and were so lucky to land on our feet and paws at Prestons Barn. The cottage is fitted out to a high standard and bigger than I was expecting. We loved the downstairs shower room, the conservatory looking out over the garden and the woodburner. Best of all, while some cottages are dog tolerant, Prestons Barn is truly dog friendly, from the secure shared paddock to the secure front garden and driveway area via the selection of toys and treats. Our rescue German Shepherd was welcomed by the owners and able to run and play safely then go for a walk in the adjacent woodlands. Definitely on the list for a return visit, and looking forward to more cuddles from the resident dog Noble....
