I selected Yew Tree Barn because of its location, accommodation and dog friendly environment. I was not disappointed in any way. It had everything that I wanted accommodation wise plus a secluded location that was so peaceful that I relaxed immediately. If you enjoy privacy, bird song, lovely countryside and a handful of cars passing by each day this is the place for you. Local shops are not that far away and a supermarket is about 20 minutes drive. The bonus for me was the 4acre paddock cum orchard for exercising the dog- or just for sitting in to soak in the views, sunsets and natures perfume. ...

We were very pleased with the accommodation, and friendly reception on arrival. The standard was very high indeed. We normally stay in National Trust properties which are very good. Lovely touch with the scones, jam and clotted cream. We were extremely luck with the weather so Max our rough collie was out in the orchard all the time, he loved it! We would certainly recommend John, Mary and Yew Tree Barn! ...

We had a fabulous holiday at Yew Tree Barn in April. Set in a lovely quiet location, we found that we had everything you could possibly need to hand for a lovely relaxing holiday. We arrived to a friendly reception from John and Mary and a much appreciated welcome pack. Under cover provision was made for our bikes and we enjoyed a stoll in the adjoining orchard. We found the barn to be a high standard, luxurious conversion, which is exceptionally well equipped and enjoyed every moment of our time there. As we like to be fairly active during our holidays, we ventured out to the Strawberry Line, from Ceddar and enjoyed a very fullfilling, 22 mile, off road cycle ride to and from Yatton. A trip to Minehead, revisiting memories of my first day of 97 days walking the SWCP last year to Porlock Weir, was a thrilling highlight. The next day we took the steam train from Bishops Lydeard to Dunster, taking in the NT Castle which was an equally enjoyable outing. More locally we thoughly enjoyed exploring Wells, and it's Cathedral and Palace together with Glastonbury, its Abbey and Tor, all of which was rounded off perfectly with a visit to Mary's quintessentially english tearoom. ...

We stayed here in early December with our pointer to celebrate our birthdays. Easy to find and were welcomed by John who showed us around. The Barn has been beautifully converted and maintained, giving a feel of a top notch self catering cottage with a touch of boutique hotel stay too - bath robes, masses of towels, soaps etc - and a very welcome cream tea awaiting us. And the dog certainly appreciated the treats left for him - and the fully enclosed large orchard field. (You do have to go round the cottage to access the field as there isn't a door straight into it, but that's not much of a hardship!) Efficient underfloor heating and a wood burner kept us suitably toasty during some rather wet and windy weather. We didn't venture very far other than by foot but had Sunday lunch at Sexeys Arms (easy walk) and a lunch at the Swan in Wedmore (longer walk). Both excellent - especially the Sunday lunch in a "proper" pub, clearly much loved by locals. Sadly we had to leave early due to our vehicle breaking down - but will be planning a return trip to properly enjoy the cottage and surrounding area in full....
