Barrington Court, a Tudor manor owned by the National Trust, is a short drive away.
Montacute House, another National Trust property, is also worth a visit.
Why not hop on the West Somerset Steam Railway that leaves from Bishops Lydeard?
Lyme Regis is a vibrant seaside town with some great choices when it comes to dining and can be reached in under 40 minutes by car.

Nick was a great host who welcomed us warmly. He had the hot tub preheated for us despite the weather being horrible and also offered us to check out late on the Sunday which put us at ease.

The whistle shepherds hut in Somerset is a lovely place to stay. Location is beautiful and amenities are good. The hosts are welcoming but also giving you the privacy to enjoy your stay. While we were there we enjoyed watching the antics of the sheep in the field next to the Shepherds hut!??...

We absolutely loved our stay at The Whistle and would highly recommend. The hut and terrace were lovely, the setting was beautiful and so peaceful, and the facilities (pizza over, BBQ, hot tub) amazing. Our neighbours, Eric and Tabitha the pet sheep were lovely, like a pair of big woolly dogs and we enjoyed being able to feed them the occasional biscuit (with the owners permission). We had a wonderful long weekend and would love to come back....
