The sitting-room has a wood-burning stove and deep comfy sofas to curl up on.
Two sets of doors open onto this wide paved terrace and the fully enclosed garden. The post and rail fencing also has rabbit proof wire and so is as secure as is reasonably possible.
The kitchen/dining-room is really spacious, with the front door opening to the farmstead.
The two and a half acre arboretum is the most beautiful and peaceful place to explore, sit with a book or have a picnic lunch.
Stairs lead from the sitting-room to the first floor of the cottage. There is also a door directly out onto the patio.
The kitchen is a delightful sociable space to cook in, with the farmhouse table in the other half of the room.
The sparkling worktop will inspire you to cook, but there is also a footpath through woodland directly to the friendly local pub.

The main bedroom has a king-size bed and its own en suite shower-room. High ceilings and a large window make this room lovely and light and airy.
You can sit in bed with your morning cup of tea and look out over the meadow. You are quite likely to see deer grazing in the evening or early in the morning.
The two bedrooms are at opposite ends of the corridor.
This is the en suite shower-room for the master bedroom. The wonderful shower has a rainfall shower head as well as a conventional one.
The second bedroom has views out over the 2.5 acre arboretum which is filled with unique tree species.
The bathroom next to the twin bedroom has a bath as well as a fitted shower.

What a fabulous countryside setting these friendly neighbours have to roam and enjoy.
The garden is fenced to reassure parents with young children and guests who wish to bring their dog with them.

We have booked with Classic previously and had a great experience. This was no exception and we enjoyed a fantastic short break at Crab Apple Cottage as a family of three plus our Labrador. Whilst the owners are on site, they greeted us on arrival but then left us alone during our stay. The cottage is large, comfortable and beautifully decorated and finished. Everywhere was very clean. The log burner is a lovely touch and made for a very cosy atmosphere. Also, the cottage has more books and DVDs than you can shake a stick at. Outdoors our dog loved the large enclosed garden and the owners allowed us to use the adjacent field too - our lab was in her element. The cottage feels tucked away but is within easy reach of local amenities. Fordmore Farmshop cafe was great for caffeine and cake and dog friendly too. Large Tesco and Aldi just down the road in Cullompton for more supplies. Would recommend Alans Fish and Chips in Cullompton. Would highly recommend this cottage. ...

Crab Apple Cottage is a lovely home, with a thoughtful welcome pack from the owners. Peaceful, rural place to unwind. The Arboretum with the chickens was a wonderful place for a short evening or morning stroll. Sadly, the field advertised was not available for us to use. The bed was comfortable, a choice of books and DVD for those rainy days. Stair gates to stop pets going into the lounge and upstairs are provided. The owners are close by, just across the yard, which may or may not bother you and there is also a cat on site, which we were not made aware of before booking. This is something that should be mentioned in the advert as some dogs are not cat friendly! Not a whole lot to do in the area but there are some lovely walks and a couple of lovely towns. Topsham was welcoming and tranquil and Sidmouth was also but with a bit more hustle and bustle. Most other towns locally were awful, dirty and hardly any shops. The Tram ride was also disappointing. The Keepers Inn pub nearby was very friendly and great ‘locals’ atmosphere, great choice of drinks but the food is terrible and expensive. Overall, we had a nice stay in the Crab Apple Cottage but would probably not return to that part of Devon. ...

We are so sorry to hear that you didn't get to visit some of the other locations that the owners have highly recommended in their welcome folder. If you change your mind about visiting that area again, please feel free to contact the team so that someone who knows that area well, can pass on some recommendations. We spoke to the owners about the advertised field, and whilst in the past, they would usually have had a field that guests could use for their dogs, sadly at this time, the grass was too long while they were waiting for it to be cut for hay. As a result, they have asked that we change the website description as they cannot guarantee this facility going forward.
