DoubleThis beautiful stone farmhouse has something very special indeed - it comes with a 450 acre nature reserve and a unique relationship with Dorset Wildlife Trust, offering comfortable, relaxing and flexible accommodation for parties attending courses, meetings or events at the Kingcombe Centre.
Quite apart from being a wonderfully spacious family-friendly property, there is a huge sitting-room with brand new, comfy blue sofas and a dining-room/conservatory where you can dine overlooking the reserve. There are four bedrooms upstairs, all with en suite amenities and following renovation, the ground floor facilitates those with disability/mobility difficulties by offering a fifth bedroom that is located across the hall from a large accessible wet-room.
A gate from the large garden leads into the reserve where you can wander freely (with respect for any livestock), in this beautiful conservation area of wildflower meadows, ancient hedgerows, traditionally grazed pasture, woodland and meandering river.
The Dorset Wildlife Trust runs its flagship Kingcombe Visitor Centre just two minute's walk down the road, where you can enjoy drinks and cake from the tea-room and browse for gifts in the shop. The Centre also runs a variety of country-inspired workshops and events, which may be available to book for yourselves or your children.
Beech Cottage is more than just a place for a really peaceful holiday or a family celebration, it is somewhere you can experience the rare freedom to roam undisturbed, taking in all the wildlife that thrives in this natural and protected habitat.
It is a source of inspiration, should you choose to learn more about the dedicated countryside conservation work of the Dorset Wildlife Trust – the driving force behind this very special holiday property – by joining one of their range of activities.
If you can tear yourself away from this rural idyll, the stunning Jurassic Coast at West Bay, Bridport, is just 10 miles away – an energetic and challenging section of the South West Coast Path.
If it is sandy beaches that you are after, then the long stretch of sand and shallow waters at Weymouth's seafront is a great playground for children. Bridport itself is a lovely and thriving market town, with regular farmers' and antiques markets and plenty of little shops and cafes to explore for those holiday treats. You will also be spoilt for choice with some lovely village pubs – at Powerstock, Corscombe and Cattistock.
