Only a minute away from the sea, this Victorian semi-detached beach house faces south east across the ocean in the small bay of Portmellon. St Porth is a tall, elegant house with many original period features, contemporary upgrades, spacious rooms and floor to ceiling windows letting in plenty of light. Its captivating ever-changing sea views from most of the rooms make it a wonderful base to mull the turning tides and enjoy typical Cornish village life whether you are travelling as a family or with friends.

The house has a large sunny front garden with a lawned area and wooden deck with garden furniture and a Mediterranean-style gravel garden containing various palms and exotic plants which frame the view of the sea. You can see the beach from the garden and there is plenty of space to relax and enjoy the views. The garden gets the sun from early morning to late afternoon and you will no doubt spend a large part of your holiday here watching the boats come and go and families and locals enjoying the beach as you follow the evening sun down the garden towards the sea.

There are three bedrooms on the first floor: the main bedroom with super-king sized bed and wash-basin, a double bedroom with king-sized bed and a small single room. The two front bedrooms have large floor to ceiling sash windows letting in the light with amazing ocean views where you can watch the sun come up over the sea. The rear double bedroom looks over the patio and hills behind the house. Another stairway takes you up to the light drenched loft room which has a double bed and a sea view through the cathedral-style window.

There is convenient parking at the bottom of the garden for one car and you can drive right up to the front door to unload, a rare luxury in Cornwall. There is extra parking available in the public car park nearby. The driveway to the property is shared with the neighbouring property but you can still drive up to the front door to unload.

The cove at Portmellon is literally 20 paces from the house which makes it the perfect base for a beach holiday. It is well known by locals who travel from far afield to enjoy the tranquility and family-friendly beach and its small jetty suitable for launching sailing crafts and kayaks. The bay is perfect for active families and lovers of water sports; you can paddle board, kayak, swim, scuba, snorkel, sail, fish, explore the rock pools at low tide or just sit on the sea wall and watch the world go by. A variety of sea birds and marine life inhabit the shores nearby, look out for seals and dolphins while out kayaking in the bay.

The local pub is a stone's throw from the house and it is a great spot to relax in the sun and enjoy the sea views and beach life going on around you. There is also a wonderful beach cafe (The Shack) serving coffee, fresh foods and cakes and a paddle board and kayak rental cabin (The Paddle Shed). During high winds and storms the area is popular for storm watchers who come to see the waves as they pound the sea wall reaching staggering heights.

Mevagissey is a 14th Century working Cornish fishing village located a 10 minute walk along the coast path. With its coloured fishing boats and small independent shops, galleries and restaurants lining the narrow-cobbled streets it is a lovely place to explore. From here, there is a regular summer ferry to the popular sailing town of Fowey, a great day out.

There are a host of lovely beaches in the area, some are hidden gems waiting to be discovered with no vehicle access. The house is located directly on the famous South West Coast Path so you can walk for miles in either direction with stunning views and ever-changing landscapes. Whether you are looking for a relaxing or active break there is plenty on offer.
