KingIf you're in need of a relaxing reset, hidden away from the stresses of daily life, then this luxury hideaway in the heart of north Devon is the perfect choice. Set within 90 acres of private woodland, meadows and streams that are just waiting to be explored, this is rural bliss at its very best and the perfect setting for a couple or solo traveller with man's best friend in tow!
Step inside Wootton Secret Hut and you will instantly want to sink into the plump and inviting king-size bed, just the tonic for a heavenly sleep and lazy lie-ins. So, swing open the doors and climb into bed with your morning cuppa, watching the sun rise on the day ahead with the cheerful tunes of the morning birdsong to entertain. On chillier days, you have the luxury of under-floor heating to keep you warm and the toasty wood-burner will be crackling in the background as you lose yourself in the latest page-turner.
The cute kitchenette sits to the far end of the hut and is well-equipped with a two-ring electric hob, microwave, toaster, kettle and the owners have even included an air-fryer! You have all you need to rustle up a meal whilst listening to some holiday tunes on the radio. Just off the kitchenette you have the fully fitted en suite shower-room which is surprisingly spacious!
The outside really is a glorious extension of the hut. The owners have thought through every aspect to ensure you get the best the setting has to offer. The wood-fired hot tub has been positioned perfectly to take advantage of the view across to Exmoor and as the night sky darkens simply look up and star gaze! There's also a barbecue and garden table and chairs creating a cosy nook for al fresco eating and, if that's not enough, the lawned area is perfect for the hound to exercise and run off some steam, not forgetting the woodland that surrounds you.
The beauty of this hut is the indulgence of space whilst being surrounded by nature. Being on the owner's land you have the joy of knowing that help is on hand if required but, if not, you will have your privacy so you can simply set about enjoying your idyllic escape to the country.

If walking is your thing, beautiful Exmoor National Park is just half an hour away by car and dramatic Dartmoor can be easily reached too (around an hour's drive). Or why not cycle the Tarka Trail from Braunton to Meeth near Hatherleigh - you will simply delight as you cycle along.
For a highly recommended blast of sea air head to the north coast which has plenty of golden sandy beaches to choose from. A firm favourite must be heading to Instow for a day, here you can use the little seasonal passenger ferry to visit the historic fishing village of Appledore too. A little further afield the coast becomes truly dramatic with wild cliff paths and rocky coves and fabulous surfing beaches such as Westward Ho! The nearest market town is South Molton with its twice-weekly (Thursdays and Saturdays) pannier market and quirky independent shops.
The Cathedral City of Exeter is nearby and offers an alternative day out. Don't fancy driving? Hop on a train for the 45-minute journey to the city along the beautiful Tarka Line. Closer to home, the Highbullen Hotel is a short drive from Wootton Secret Hut and offers tennis, golf, a spa, gym, bar, and a fine-dining restaurant should you fancy the night off cooking.
