A long four mile shingle beach with no sand in sight, so whilst you won't be building sandcastles you can enjoy clear waters and great views towards Beachy Head and the Seven Sisters. You'll find a good number of cafes close by and a cycle path which runs along the back of the beach. Parking is usually available on nearby side roads. Volunteer lifeguards patrol the area during summer months and there is a seasonal dog ban on the central section of the beach only.

Managed by the Woodland Trust, Park Woods is a delightful woodland with a choice of footpaths where you will find a variety of trees, streams and hidden ponds. You can see deer and other wildlife in this quiet, tranquil spot.

Found on a winding country lane, this popular traditional pub is well worth the journey for fabulous food and a great selection of wine and beer. It has a great reputation so book ahead to ensure you get a table. Dogs are welcome and car parking is available.

Special meal

We had a lovely meal and cocktails here. Worth the walk, it’s nearer than it looks. Food was delicious and served in a well contemporary styled Inn
