If you were looking for cottages like Admiral's Den, how about trying these:

For anyone with aspirations of a country house retreat with a comfortable modern twist, this spacious ground floor apartment (bottom right-hand side of main picture) within the impressive Nancealverne Manor may be just the ticket. Recently refurbished, but with careful attention paid to the period surroundings, the apartment enjoys sizeable rooms with south-facing Georgian windows overlooking the grounds of this magnificent country house.

Admiral's Den (so-called because of the historical association with both Admiral Nelson and Admiral Peyton) has two comfortable bedrooms, one boasting a king-size bed, the other a choice of twins or a luxurious super-king size bed. The well-equipped kitchen has an informal breakfast table and overlooks the central courtyard. The piece de resistance is the sitting/dining-room with its huge roaring wood-burner, comfortable furnishings, elegant dining-table lit by a chandelier, and views across the grounds - this is the perfect space to host a special family meal or alternatively relax with a book or film and recharge your batteries.

Across the driveway is your own spacious enclosed garden where you can run with your dog, play games and just enjoy the space; perhaps a glass of wine in the evening sunshine, or an al fresco brunch before heading out for the day to explore the clifftops and countryside made more familiar in recent years by BBCs Poldark.

The manor itself was partly funded with proceeds from the Battle of Nile in 1798 when Admiral Horatio Nelson commanded the English Fleet to victory over Napoleon's navy. Admiral John Peyton was a family member, and he and another ancestor fought in the battle. On their return, an annual dinner was hosted in the sitting/dining-room of Admiral's Den, attended by former comrades to celebrate the great victory.
