Lovingly restored with cosy interiors packed full of charm and wonderful views across the moors, the owners have created a blissful sanctuary and a perfect retreat for families and friends alike.
Stroll along the winding country roads and immerse yourself in all the village has to offer, with its local pub, cute railway station, access to the Coast to Coast walk and of course not forgetting the sheep! You will be charmed by the beautiful interiors that lie behind the stone facade of this traditional terraced cottage. The rustic pine floor, beamed ceilings and sash windows, which really let the light flood in, make this the quintessential Yorkshire cottage holiday in the National Park.
You are welcomed by the spacious entrance hall with plenty of room for muddy boots, coats and any outdoor gear you have. The sitting-room, with its window seat, perfect for staring over the hills and taking in all that nature has to offer, has lots of comfy seating and a wood-burner to keep you warm in the cooler months. The separate dining-room, with large family dining-table, has patio doors open to the private rear courtyard where you can share an al fresco meal. With a second wood-burner in this room there is no chance of getting cold in this cottage.
The galley kitchen boasts everything you need to whip up a fantastic meal using local produce you have picked up on your exploration of the area. Up to the first floor the main bedroom and family bathroom are an absolute triumph and there's also a single room and a modern shower-room. The twin bedroom is found on the second floor along with another double, and let's not forget the landing nook full of toys and books to keep the kids busy. There's also a Nintendo Wii which is great for keeping all the family entertained.
Outside the property you can enjoy a meal in the rear courtyard, barbecue some steaks or go for some local veg! Meanwhile there is a small patio area to enjoy at the front.
Built in the 1870s this cottage is fully of character and the ideal place to base yourself while exploring the fantastic countryside. Walk through the Yorkshire Moors feeling the wind on your face or visit some of the lovely villages nearby, Lealholm with the stream running through is only a couple of miles away.
Grosmont, with a station for the North Yorkshire Moors steam railway, is only four miles away. Further afield visit Whitby with it's busy harbour and the historic Abbey. Why not visit it by the 199 steps from Church Lane and stop halfway on the bench to take in the view across the town. If you are looking for a city to visit don't miss out on York with is original walls you can walk around, the Minster and the wonderful medieval streets waiting for you to explore.
