Sitting in an elevated position in the picturesque unspoilt fishing village of Portloe on Cornwall's south coast, The Blue House is a beautiful Grade II Listed fisherman's cottage overlooking the pretty harbour. Accessed through wrought iron gates and up a cobbled pathway, shared by the neighbouring property, step through the blue front door into this charming stone cottage.

With reversed accommodation to take advantage of the lovely sea views, you will find the stylish kitchen on the first floor complete with Nespresso coffee machine and everything you need to cook up a tasty snack or a delicious feast. Enjoy views over your private terrace as you wash up the dishes before heading through to the gorgeous sitting-room where you can sit and relax on the comfy sofa with a good book or take a pew on the window seat and watch the boats come and go in the harbour. In the cooler months fire up the wood-burner, grab your hot chocolate and get yourself cosy.

Two lovely bedrooms can be found on the ground floor, both enjoying coastal views of 'The Jacka' to the front of the cottage. The smaller of the two bedrooms is the single room, perfect for a guest of all ages. Right next door is the main bedroom, with a wet-room across the landing complete with under-floor heating, this stunning space would look right at home in the best of boutique hotels.

The private sun terrace is the perfect spot to enjoy the captivating panoramic views across the harbour and along the coast, watch the fishing boats come and go as the daily catch comes in and as the sun goes down on a clear night, look out for the first star to appear in the night sky.

When hunger calls take a stroll to the Ship Inn, your local friendly pub, four-legged guests are welcome too or for a very special occasion, why not book a table at the nearby two AA Rosette restaurant at the Lugger Hotel which sits right on the water's edge and offers superb dining with fabulous views.

For those who want to explore this beautiful part of Cornwall there is much to see nearby; Carne and Pendower beaches, the picturesque cove of Portholland and the stunning beach and castle at Caerhays are only a ten minute drive away.

In the other direction, head for the sandy beach and rock pools at Portscatho and take a wander around the art galleries, or a little further on is the desirable village of St Mawes, thought by some to be the capital of the Roseland peninsula and home to restaurants, independent shops, a sandy beach, and its 16th Century castle.

Scenic boat trips leave daily from St Mawes to Falmouth and Place Manor on St Anthony headland. If you decide to stay close to home, step out of the cottage and enjoy walking the stunning coastline either side of the tiny, sheltered harbour.

Portloe, considered by many to be the jewel in the crown of the Roseland peninsula, was once described by John Betjeman as 'one of the least spoiled and most impressive Cornish fishing villages', come to stay at The Blue House and find out why.
