Welcome to The Barn, this beautiful, Grade II Listed retreat is perfect for couples looking for something rather romantic and cosy. This 200 year old reverse-level property, which was once used as a stable, is hidden down one of the quiet and charming side streets in Totnes, only moments away from the energetic high street and all its attractions, offering a fabulous collection of independent shops, cafes and restaurants.
At your disposal you have all the charm and culture of this fabulous town, and only a short car drive away you will find yourself amongst the most glorious south Devon countryside, where you can immerse yourself in the quaint village pubs, numerous hot spots and attractions, not forgetting the infamous Dartmoor and all its magic is 15 minutes away by car. You may want to stop off at Ben's Farm Shop for some tasty treats or Riverford Field Kitchen for brunch, lunch or an evening meal.
You do however have everything you will need for a truly special holiday within walking distance from your doorstep. Totnes is renowned far and wide for its eclectic mix of shops and boutiques, not forgetting museums and art galleries, Totnes Castle and the fabulous South Devon Steam Railway. Meandering through Totnes is such a treat, with the weekly markets on Friday and Saturdays not to be missed, this is when numerous local traders take over the square with stalls and stands, all offering something rather unique. An hour or two of browsing or purchasing, followed by a tasty lunch in one of the many fabulous eateries scattered along the high street is the perfect way to spend the day. The town also offers an independent cinema, tucked into an alley off the high street which has cabaret-style seating, drinks and cocktails - a great way to spend the day or evening.
This fabulous ancient town is nestled next to the river Dart and from the quay you can take a riverboat cruise to Dartmouth. Or how about a walk along the river Dart to the village of Dartington and The Cider Press where you will find further cultural attractions, restaurants and shops.
Returning to The Barn following a full day of exploration and adventure is a welcome sight. The spacious open-plan first floor living area is a great space to dine and relax whilst planning tomorrow's agenda, then retire downstairs to the super comfy king-size bed for a restful night's sleep in preparation for many more adventures. Waking up in The Barn you will feel refreshed and ready for the day ahead, enjoy a refreshing shower, grab a coffee from the Nespresso machine which can be found in the vintage kitchen, then don those walking boots and away you go! Whichever direction you head out in, you will be guaranteed enjoyment and adventure.
