Rediscover everything that this wonderful world has to offer and Mother Nature at her very best, with an escape to this endearing barn conversion set in the heart of the historic Restormel Estate, part of the Duchy of Cornwall. While away many an hour immersing yourself in the charm of the surrounding landscape, gazing up at wide open skies, enjoying a good stomp or a gentle ramble through the ancient woodlands, or simply relaxing with your favourite tipple in your private garden accompanied by the sounds of the countryside.
Step inside and thoughtfully curated interiors will set you to holiday mode from the minute you arrive. The open plan living-room is the main event, perfect for all to gather whether preparing your holiday feasts or cosied up in front of the wood-burner on chillier days enjoying a holiday movie. Up a couple of steps and you'll find the family bathroom along with three beautiful bedrooms to choose from, just waiting to send you off into the land of nod.
One of six cottages set around a maturely planted courtyard, providing privacy for all guests, Cardinan enjoys a prime location with views from the garden over the surrounding countryside and the easiest of access to the fabulous leisure facilities, available for all guests staying on the Estate. Pop on your towelling robe and grab your pool towel, provided during your stay, and have some fun in the indoor heated pool or chill out and relax in the steam room and sauna. Adults can enjoy a game of tennis whilst younger members have fun on the play equipment - you are going to have a great time - and if you are the type who likes to brag about 'the one that got away' there's complimentary fishing along the river at certain times of the year.
When you are ready to refuel, take the woodland walk up to the Duchy Nursery and indulge in the tasty treats served up at their cafe, with stunning views of the glorious countryside towards Restormel Castle you are sure to become a regular during your stay.
Set a mile from the little riverside town of Lostwithiel, take the leafy lane that leads you to the town which has a choice of places to eat and drink, a small selection of independent shops along with antiques and interiors shops to inspire. The sheltered bays and the charming fishing towns and villages along the south coast are the shortest of drives away. For water sports Polkerris will delight and there's nothing better than swimming in the turquoise waters of Lantic Bay.
For some fun on the water the River Fowey is the ideal playground, whether you choose to explore it on paddleboard or kayak or even hop on a boat trip. Take a pew at one of the many waterside eateries in trendy Fowey and watch the sailors master their craft and for ships of a bygone age head down to Charlestown to see the tall ships in the historic harbour. Closer to home, historians can stroll up to the remains of Restormel Castle (English Heritage) or spend the day at Lanhydrock House (National Trust) with its late Victorian country house, glorious gardens and wooded estate.
