Double bunk-bedWelcome to The Hiding Place, a stunning retreat nestled in its own grounds and offering guests a peaceful holiday escape at any time of the year. Located just a short distance from the picturesque village of Veryan with its friendly pub and village shop and less than a mile from the unspoilt fishing village of Portloe on the Roseland peninsula, the location is a perfect getaway without being too remote.
Found at the end of your private drive, come and discover this unique property where creativity reigns not only with beautiful spaces and stylish furnishings but also with functional spaces both inside and out. When it's time to prepare dinner, open up the hidden kitchen in the main living space or head outside and fire up the large barbecue, there's plenty of wood to keep you cooking all night! Enjoy dining at the rustic farmhouse table or out on the terrace overlooking the garden; breakfast, lunch or dinner, the choice is yours. A comfy sofa and funky chairs are perfect for relaxing after a day out exploring, before it's time to head off to one of the two bedrooms, and with everything on one level bar one step, this is easy living at its best.
Open up the doors in the double bedroom to let the outside in, lie in your king-size bed with a morning cuppa whilst you wait for the wood-fired hot tub to get to temperature, or maybe today you'd prefer a dip in the outside bath, what a difficult decision to make! The second bedroom is furnished with twin bunk-beds (the bottom bunk is four-foot three-inches with a three-foot top bunk on one side, the other side has a seating area on the bottom with a three-foot bunk over) which gives great flexibility depending on your holiday requirements and the gorgeous shower-room is just next door beside the bedrooms.
Set in several acres of farmland, there is plenty of outdoor space for children to let off steam and there are often sheep in the adjoining field to watch. Do take care at the far end of the field as there is a drainage ditch which is not fenced and occasionally after a downpour can have water running in it.
If you are seeking somewhere to rest and recharge, take some time to get out and enjoy this beautiful part of the Cornwall south coast, then The Hiding Place is for you.
Portloe is a quintessential Cornish village with whitewashed and stone cottages clustered around the small harbour where fishing boats still land their crab and lobster pots daily. The lovely sandy beaches of Carne and Pendower are a five minute drive away and there are some truly stunning stretches of coastline to walk and enjoy. Swimming, paddle boarding, sandcastle building, and rock pooling are sure to keep the younger ones in the party happy.
With the Roseland on your doorstep there is lots of this beautiful peninsula to explore. Portscatho is well worth a visit and home to The Hidden Hut at Porthcurnick beach an outdoor beach cafe famous for its al fresco feast nights. Head to St Mawes and enjoy lunch overlooking the sea at the Tresanton or The Idle Rocks, catch the ferry across to the maritime town of Falmouth with its eclectic mix of shops, great cafes, and restaurants or for garden lovers take the ferry to the National Trust gardens at Trelissick near the King Harry Ferry. The Lost Gardens of Heligan should also be on your 'to do' list. Lost in time during WW1 and discovered 30 years ago, the gardens have now been returned to their former glory and make for an interesting day out.
However, you plan to spend your holiday time The Hiding Place is the perfect base for all your Cornish adventures.
