Bedroom 1
Four poster bedWhisk your loved one off to this dreamy retreat for two. Romantic Lavender Barn is a detached 18th Century building, lovingly converted by the current owners into the most charming holiday home for couples seeking a peaceful escape.
Privacy is assured at this delightful location which is surrounded by verdant fields and woodlands and reached via six steep granite steps. Situated on the owners' former working farm, the south-facing barn has a charming private garden in which to enjoy a morning coffee at the start of the day and an evening tipple once the sun goes over the yardarm and although the lovely owners live next door, they are very discreet and you won't know they are there.
Beautifully styled throughout, tasteful English and French antique furniture evoke a sense of romance and charm. The bedroom has a king-size, voile draped four-poster bed for invitingly tempting lazy holiday mornings and there is a shower-room (with step up into) for revitalising at the start of the day.
Take two steps down into the super stylish kitchen where calming blues and greys will ensure cooking will not be a chore (with electric hob and electric oven). Outside the bedroom and up one step you'll find a decked area complete with a table and two chairs, and a charcoal barbecue - perfect for a spot of al fresco dining. Given the quirky nature of this property, it may not be suitable for those with limited mobility.
Exploring west Cornwall is easy from this location. Whether you fancy a beach day, a garden, or a heritage attraction, there is plenty to chose from.
In no particular order and needing no introduction is majestic St Michael's Mount in Marazion. A medieval castle and church, still home to the St Aubyn family today and home to many islanders who live and work there, you can cross on foot at low tide or take the little ferry when the tide is high. There is a steep climb up to the castle but it's worth the climb for the views alone.
Marazion itself hosts a few independent shops, cafes and pubs and a gorgeous beach where you can just sit and stare at the sea views. Further along the coast is Penzance, then Newlyn, then Mousehole, all worth visiting for differing reasons. Penzance for the shops, restaurants and marina, Newlyn for the fishing fleet, and rows of pretty cottages and Mousehole for the delightful harbour, quaint streets and good old laid-back charm.
Further afield The Minack Theatre at Porthcurno is worth visiting even if you don't stay and watch a show. Land's End, one of the country's most iconic landmarks with its stunning scenery, is worth a visit, or perhaps you fancy trying your hand surfing at Sennen Cove, walking the coastal footpath, or visiting Geevor Tin Mine…. Whatever takes your fancy, returning at the end of your busy day to Lavender Barn makes for a most welcome retreat where you can relax and plan tomorrow's adventures………….
