With the cosmopolitan maritime city of Plymouth close by and the delights of the stunning Rame peninsula not far away, Tikkidew is ideal for either a romantic short break or a week-long holiday where even your four-legged friend is welcome.
Step foot over the threshold and you will instantly feel at home here. Decorated in soft white shades, the sitting/dining-room is cosy and welcoming with a gorgeous feature fireplace and wood-burner to keep you warm whatever the weather. The separate kitchen has all the equipment you will need on holiday, plus the all-important dishwasher so no squabbling over the washing up here! Also, on the ground floor, the bathroom has a bath with fitted shower so you can choose either a long soak or a refreshing shower.
Climb the stairs to the galleried level and you will discover a pretty double bedroom with a comfy 'zip and link' bed giving you the choice of either twin beds or a super-king size double.
Outside you will find a pretty garden, sheltered and secluded, just perfect for al fresco dining and sitting in the Cornish sunshine. Tikkidew sits in a row of three beautiful cottages, with a private courtyard front and rear, and the friendly owners are onsite. The communal gardens which surround the cottages to the front are beautiful year-round, however they are shared so guests are requested to keep dogs on leads in this area. A separate shared dog exercise area is available for all guests throughout your stay. Whatever the time of year, a getaway here will make lasting memories.
A holiday on the Cornwall/Devon border gives you the best of both worlds with everything close at hand. Head to Devon for a day exploring the maritime city of Plymouth, steeped in history and offering a myriad of things to do. Royal William Yard has a great selection of eateries and boutiques or perhaps visit The Hoe with panoramic views over the Sound and an art deco Grade II Listed lido, voted one of the 10 best in Europe!
If you'd prefer to stay in Cornwall, a visit to the charming village of Calstock on the banks of the river Tamar is recommended. From here you can take a pretty footpath to the enchanting Cotehele Estate, owned by the National Trust and offering gorgeous woodland walks, a riverside quay, watermill and workshops. Alternatively, head for the Rame peninsula and walk the South West Coast Path to the beautiful twin villages of Cawsand and Kingsand, the perfect place for a beach day. Seasonal passenger ferries from Cawsand (and Cremyll on the Mount Edgcumbe estate) ply the waters of Plymouth Sound, giving access to the wonderful Hoe and Royal William Yard, with its many bars and restaurants.
Cyclists will love this area too, with miles of scenic routes taking in old engine houses and stunning countryside. If you wish to travel further afield then head for the wilds of Dartmoor or Bodmin, with breathtaking scenery, moors, historic woodlands and even a pony or too!
Guests will also have access to free leisure passes to the China Fleet Club where you can indulge to your heart's content and just pay for the activities you choose, such as golf and the spa, all at member rates.
Whether you plan to spend your getaway relaxing or exploring further afield, Tikkidew is perfectly placed for all your holiday adventures and where your only dilemma will be whether cream or jam comes first on your scone!
