If you prefer something on a grander scale, head for the historical houses and gardens of the Mount Edgcumbe, Port Eliot and Antony Estates and if you need a city fix take the ferry across Plymouth Sound to the maritime city of Plymouth to discover the historic Barbican and Plymouth Hoe, along with restaurants, bars and yachts of all sizes and a first class theatre.
