KingEnjoy the peaceful surroundings of The Cottage which is situated on the edge of Piltdown and south of the Ashdown Forest, a lovely property for couples looking for a romantic break.
On the ground floor is a fully equipped kitchen with a breakfast table, coffee machine, an Amazon Alexa and just about everything you will need to create a culinary delight.
Just off the kitchen is the shower-room with a shower, WC, wash-basin and heated towel rail.
Heading upstairs you will find a modern sitting/dining area with characterful sloping ceilings (please mind your head). After a busy day exploring the Sussex countryside, unwind on the large double sofas whilst you switch on the Smart TV and watch your favourite movie on Netflix. There is superfast fibre broadband and a desk, perfect if you need to work or simply catch up with the outside world. Adjacent to the sitting/dining area is a beautiful bedroom with a sumptuous king-size bed for a great night's sleep.
Outside is a private terrace with patio furniture and barbecue. Storage is available for bikes and there is parking for up to two cars. Enjoy wandering around the grounds which are shared with the owner, there is also a lovely pond which is often occupied by the resident ducks.
Lovely walks can be enjoyed from the doorstep. There is a particularly pleasant walk from the grounds into the village of Fletching which has a popular pub.
The Cottage is the perfect base for enjoying the Ashdown Forest and you are only a 30 minute drive from the South Downs National Park, both popular with walkers and cyclists.
There are several golf courses nearby including Piltdown, Royal Ashdown in Forest Row and the East Sussex National at Little Horsted.
The nearest towns are Uckfield and Haywards Heath which both have a variety of shops and trains to London. There is a newly opened M&S food hall nearby where you can shop for your supper and prepare a meal in the well-equipped kitchen. The supermarket car park also has electric car charging facilities should you need them. A short drive will take you to the county town of Lewes, famous for its annual bonfire celebrations and working brewery and home to Lewes Castle and Anne of Cleves House Museum. Wander the medieval streets and visit the many book and antiques shops, galleries, boutiques and craft workshops.
Take in the Sussex countryside aboard the Bluebell Railway; a steam train which makes frequent journeys from Sheffield Park and Gardens and East Grinstead, stopping at Horsted Keynes and Kingscote.
Visit the spa town of Royal Tunbridge Wells or the coastal towns of Brighton and Eastbourne which have some great shops, bars, and restaurants.
Enjoy an opera at Glyndebourne and picnic in the beautiful grounds. Or visit one of the many attractions Sussex has to offer including Heaven Farm, Barcombe Mills, Wakehurst Place, which is Kew's wild botanic garden, Nymans, an extensive garden set around a romantic house and ruins, Michelham Priory, a Tudor house set on a picturesque moated island, the dazzling Royal Pavilion (Brighton), and Ashdown Forest Llama Park to name a few!
