This magical hideaway is a world away from urban life and is truly unique, making it the perfect retreat for a romantic getaway. Situated in a peaceful location on the edge of woods by the Roman River Valley Nature Reserve, it's less than a mile from Colchester Zoo where some days, in the distance, you can hear the lions roar.

Furnished with heavenly interiors, the open plan cabin has all you need under one roof. Centre stage is a fabulous king-size four-poster bed and at the end of the bed is a gorgeous deep copper roll-top bath, the perfect place to relax, pour yourself a drink and unwind after a busy day exploring. The living area has a dining-table, sofa, Smart TV, feature fireplace and even an honesty bar. The small kitchen is the perfect place to rustle up feasts complete with hob, oven, toaster, kettle, fridge and a wonderful coffee/hot chocolate maker. If you don't fancy cooking, take a short walk to the pub, there are two in the village and they both serve food.

Doors open onto a secluded private terrace. Toast marshmallows over the fire-pit or take a dip in your own private hot tub and listen to the sounds of nature where the surrounding woods are frequently visited by all sorts of wildlife including Muntjac deer, birds, badgers and owls.

The village of Layer-de-la-Haye has two pubs, a village shop and a farm shop all within walking distance.

The property backs onto Needle Eye Woods, an Essex Wildlife Nature Reserve. Enjoy peaceful walks along the Roman River Valley, home to bluebells, dragon flies, water voles, toadstools and deer to name a few. Or visit Abberton Reservoir Nature District Park (less than two miles away) one of Europe's top wetland sites and watch the birds and wonderful sunsets.

The historic town of Colchester is a short drive away and has several restaurants, bars and shops for those seeking a spot of retail therapy. Visit Colchester's Natural History Museum, Hollytrees Museum or Colchester Castle.
