Nestled in the verdant countryside of south Devon, with wonderful beaches and coastal scenery a short journey away, The Shippon is a rural idyll, exquisitely designed and perfect for families or a group of friends looking for a peaceful getaway.

From the moment you arrive along the sweeping driveway you will be captivated by this holiday retreat. Situated in a small collection of exceptional barn conversions, The Shippon has been tastefully renovated to offer the very best of contemporary living. The open plan living space is simply stunning, with vaulted ceilings and bi-fold doors giving an enchanting view of the surrounding countryside throughout the seasons. The gorgeous velvet sofas invite you to relax and the Smart TV offers entertainment, if you can bear to tear your eyes away from the view!

Your location is rather special too. The Shippon is perfectly located for an idyllic south Devon holiday where you can enjoy tranquil country living with easy access to the delights of the beaches of the south coast. Please note as is usual in rural areas, some of the sleepy lanes in Devon are narrow including the lanes to The Shippen. Dawlish is a short journey away, a traditional seaside town with miles of golden sandy beach or perhaps Teignmouth, a pretty town with Georgian buildings and a great selection of places to dine. Across the estuary Shaldon is the prettiest of Devonshire villages and a lovely place to spend the day. Water sports enthusiasts will be spoilt for choice when it comes to deciding where to paddle board, kayak or surf.

For the walkers and explorers of the party, you have an abundance of walks and trails which surround you, and a short car journey will find you in the heart of Dartmoor National Park, which is a whole new world in its own right. Whether it's coast or moor, both are at your easy disposal.

Returning to The Shippon is such a treat. The super gorgeous interiors and carefully designed open plan living arrangement, offers the perfect space for everyone to feast, play and relax together whilst planning tomorrow's adventures.

Outside, the secluded walled garden offers peace and tranquility, complemented by a large fire-pit/barbecue and enclosed lawn areas where you can sit and enjoy birdsong and dreamy unspoilt views, whilst enjoying al fresco dining from dawn til dusk. Whilst there are a small number of windows from other properties overlooking the garden, your privacy is assured as they are above head hight or obscure.

Retiring to one of the luxurious bedrooms is the perfect way to end any day, all of which have access to their own private bath or shower room, luxury and privacy is paramount. Style, space and grandeur await you and your party, coupled with a fabulous rural location, yet minutes from the south Devon coast. All these elements create what is most certainly a fabulous all year round holiday retreat.

Venturing further afield is a must, as so many of south Devon's renowned towns and villages are only a short car journey away. The vibrant Cathedral City of Exeter is a great place for some retail therapy or perhaps pull on your walking boots and explore miles of coastal footpath.

Haldon Forest is right on your doorstep, offering a full day of adventure and attraction for all the family. From beginner to expert bikes trails (bike hire available), a delightful onsite cafe and oodles of attractions and 'on-foot' trails to enjoy, perfect for the little ones, Haldon Forest provides a great day out for all the family.

Other fabulous towns and villages are only a short car journey away, Brixham, Totnes, Dartmouth, Kingsbridge and Salcombe to mention a few. All offering their very own special and unique Devon experience.

Or perhaps loading the car with all the 'beach day' essentials and heading off along to one of the numerous nearby beaches is more the ticket. If so, you are truly spoilt for choice. Hot summer days can be spent on the sandy beach at Dawlish Warren, Teignmouth or Shaldon, all of which are a short car journey away. Or perhaps take a ferry ride over to the popular coastal town of Exmouth, where another sandy beach awaits, along with all the fun of this vibrant seaside town.

In the opposite direction and slightly further afield, the sandy beach at Broadsands, or the Blue Flag Breakwater Beach at Brixham can be enjoyed, you really do have so much choice right on your doorstep.

If you venture deeper around the breathtaking south Devon coastline, you will arrive at the popular shingle beach at Blackpool Sands, this beach proving extremely popular, not only for its picture-perfect location just outside of Dartmouth, but its fabulous offering of water sport equipment. For those who wish to get closer to the water, why not hire a kayak, or purchase a paddle board, or perhaps keeping your feet firmly on the shore is more to your liking, if so, a spot of rock pooling sounds perfect.

Slightly further along from Blackpool Sands, if you enjoy your scenery and history combined, step back in time with a visit to Slapton Sands beach. Famous for its role in the Allied preparations for the D-Day landings, this historic and rather enchanting place has a very moving story to tell, one dating back to 1944 when the allied forces used the area for D-Day landing rehearsals, which sadly saw many lives lost. Gloriously restored and sitting proudly on the edge of the beach, you can still visit and marvel at a Sherman tank which played its own personal part in 'Operation Tiger'.

In a nutshell, whichever direction you head in, you will be met with action, adventure and all the hotspots and gems the glorious south Devon coast has to offer. Splendour, relaxation, luxury and action await at The Shippon.
