Situated on the corner of the owners' working dairy farm, this countryside retreat is a great spot for your Somerset holiday. Recently renovated, this cottage offers all the mod-cons you need yet still retains a country feel that you are sure to be charmed by.
From the moment you turn down the farm track and trundle along to the farmyard, you couldn't feel closer to the countryside. Children will delight in seeing the farm animals and you can totally switch off from the strains of daily life. Once you have arrived at your parking area, enter by the little gate and walk through your private, enclosed outside space that leads up to the entrance of this cosy cottage. Take a moment to look behind you and you will see nothing but countryside - what a treat.
The ground floor is all open plan, offering a social space to spend time in together. When the sun is shining, throw open the patio doors and embrace the outside. All of the garden is visible from the sitting-room so it is easy to keep an eye on little ones and your dog who are sure to be exploring. Chilly nights call for lighting the wood-burner and watching the flames flicker, whilst cosying up on the super-comfy sofas; perfect! Upstairs there are two bedrooms and the main bedroom has dual aspect windows to make the most of those rural views. Next door the twin beds offer great flexibility for families and to finish off the space upstairs there is a modern bathroom. Comfy beds and soft linens ensure you have restful sleep after busy days exploring.
At Woodlands Farm, there is also Magnolia View (4847) accommodating three guests and booking both properties together offers a great option for friends, or multi-generational families who want their own space whilst still enjoying time together.
You can head out on glorious countryside walks straight from the doorstep and the owners will be happy to point you in the right direction. The nearest town of Wiveliscombe is only three miles away and is just on the edge of Exmoor National Park where there are so many footpaths and cycle routes just waiting to be explored (you may even spot a pony or two!). The town itself has a number of independent shops, friendly pubs and an outdoor swimming pool. There's even the Exmoor Ales Brewery where you can visit the shop and buy some infamous ales and cider. Within Exmoor National Park there is the delightful market town of Dulverton which is a great lunch spot after a walk on the moors.
To the east, the beautiful Quantock Hills should definitely be on your holiday visit list as there are some fabulous views right across the Bristol Channel to South Wales. For a special holiday memory, take a trip on the West Somerset Steam Railway that puffs along all the way up to the coast. In less than an hour in the car heading south, you will find yourself at the Jurassic Coast, an incredible landscape with exceptional viewing points of this rugged sea line.
