Listen closely and you may just hear the lions at Longleat roar - now that would be a holiday memory with a difference! Tucked down a quiet lane just into Wiltshire, on the edge of Longleat Safari Park, The Lodge at Cobweb Cottage is a delightful bolthole for two, in close proximity to an endless array of places to visit.
Stepping through the front door, you will be met with the spacious yet cosy open plan living space, complete with all the mod-cons you could wish for in the kitchen; perfect for cooking up those holiday meals. A modern shower-room completes the downstairs space. The bedroom with private balcony occupies the entirety of the first floor and there is a lovely additional seating-area next to the balcony door. From here there are delightful countryside views; you will really feel as though you have escaped the hustle and bustle of daily life.
Outside there is parking for two cars and the lane is very quiet; only used by local residents.
The owners live on site should you need anything but you are assured of the utmost privacy.
No matter the time of year, you will never be short of things to do in the area. Balmy summer days bring the opportunity to purchase fabulous local produce at the fantastic country shows; paradise for lovers of rural life. A visit to the farm shop at White Row Farm in Beckington is also a must for fabulous local goodies. Meander through the artisan markets in Frome and once the sun goes down, head back to The Lodge, raise a glass on the balcony and star-gaze over Cranborne Chase (it is an International Dark Sky reserve after all).
The Stourhead Estate is a short drive away and the autumnal colours are quite special. To the east, the historic site of Stonehenge is well worth the visit, as is a trip to the Cathedral City of Salisbury. Longleat's annual Festival of Light is really a sight to behold, as is the enchanting Bath Christmas market that runs from mid-November.
Should you wish to stay a little closer to home then there are a number of glorious countryside walks and bike rides from the cottage door and with three pubs in the village, you will be spoilt for choice when choosing a spot for lunch.
The Lodge at Cobweb Cottage is really a fantastic base from which to explore this beautiful part of the country. With so much on offer so close by we are sure you will need to keep coming back!
