East Wells is a wonderful, thatched, Grade II Listed farmhouse believed to date back to the 16th Century, situated on the fringes of Kings Nympton and benefitting from uninterrupted views of the rolling Devon hills.
On a clear day you can see Dartmoor National Park - this is the benefit of being the highest village between Dartmoor and Exmoor. Kings Nympton is a conservation award-winning Devon village and enjoys the benefits of the renowned family-friendly Grove Inn that is literally a stone's throw from your front door.
Not only is the location perfect but the farmhouse provides the ideal base to enjoy all that north Devon has to offer. From the moment you arrive at East Wells you will be enchanted by its charm and character, not to mention the view!
The cottage oozes original features such as exposed walls and ceiling timbers and two inglenook fireplaces and has been lovingly restored and updated. From a new wood-burner set into the original inglenook fireplace in the sitting-room to the roll-top bath in the main bathroom and not forgetting the beautifully crafted solid beech kitchen where 21st Century living blends beautifully with this 16th Century farmhouse.
The farmhouse also benefits from superfast WiFi which is always a plus for the younger members of the family and being the oldest building in the village it seems fitting that it should be the first to have this service. The kitchen is sure to be the heart of the home and offers the perfect setting for the family to come together at the beginning and end of each day. The original inglenook fireplace now houses a multi-fuel range which will not only keep the room warm and cosy on those chiller mornings but will also be a talking point of days gone by.
The utility-room sits to the side of the kitchen and benefits from an additional fridge and freezer, as well as a washing machine, and the garden can also be accessed from here.
The thriving market town of South Molton is a short five mile drive from East Wells and offers an excellent range of shopping with many independent boutiques and not forgetting the hugely successful weekly pannier market which is a must.
If you would prefer to be a bit more active, then north Devon will not disappoint. From cycling the Tarka Trail or for walkers there are numerous bridal paths that can be enjoyed in and around Kings Nympton.
The north Devon coast is only a short drive away, allowing you to enjoy the long sandy beaches for a fun day at the seaside or autumnal bracing walks along the miles of coast path. Whatever the season the beach always offers a place to recharge and enjoy your holiday.
