What a truly delightful retreat this is, set in a tranquil rural location, surrounded by endless miles of woodland and countryside walks and beautiful views to match, birdsong and mischievous wildlife to entertain you throughout the day and mesmerising dark skies at night, this is the place to fill your lungs with fresh air and let the days drift by.

Hidden away in the charming hamlet of Herodsfoot, less than five miles from the beaches, fishing towns and villages of the beautiful south Cornish coast and only a little further to the dramatic landscape and mining heritage of Bodmin moor, this enchanting lodge offers the best that Cornwall has to offer and I am sure St Piran himself, the patron saint of Cornwall, would certainly approve.

This wooded lodge sits majestically in its plot and is wonderfully spacious, both inside and out, and sure to be adored by families, friends and couples alike, and any four-legged friends who are lucky enough to be invited along. The very friendly owners, who have carefully crafted this special lodge, are on hand to give you a warm welcome but then leave you in peace to enjoy their little piece of heaven on earth.

Whether enjoying a good holiday read, chilling on the sun loungers or indulging in a Cornish cream tea, the large decking-area offers what has to be the best seat in the house for soaking up the gorgeous surroundings. Step inside the large open plan living-room, with its cosy sitting-area, simple dining-table and bespoke rustic kitchen complete with breakfast-bar, and the wonderful setting can still be enjoyed thanks to the huge bi-fold doors.

The two bedrooms lead off from either side of the living-room, giving a little bit more privacy. Both have been perfectly furnished in a rustic style to complement the setting but there's no compromise on comfort so you are assured a wonderful night's sleep. Of course, you have all the mod-cons in the lodge's shower-room to set up for your days exploring all that this special part of Cornwall has to offer.

And what offers are in store. Well a trip to the coast is a must. The pretty harbourside village of Polperro is packed full of character and charm, and venture along the coastal path to the little bay at Talland perhaps indulging in a scrummy afternoon tea at the hotel in the village. A little further along the coast is the bustling seaside town of Looe with its popular family-friendly beach and plenty of fishing trips encouraging you to catch your supper for the evening, and if you don't have the best catch there's a great selection of restaurants, cafes and of course fish and chip takeaways so no-one need go hungry!

The dramatic landscape of Bodmin Moor will offer a complete contrast in scenery with its gravity defying rock formations and wide open spaces dotted with ancient tin mines, and a trip to Lanhydrock (National Trust) reveals more of Cornwall's history along with it glorious gardens, parkland and a great network of cycling and walking trails.

The world renowned Eden Project and The Lost Gardens of Heligan will delight garden enthusiasts and for guided walks and other activities closer to home, The Forestry Commission operates a holiday complex at Deerpark Forest just a ten minute walk away, with a well-stocked shop and bar/cafe which visitors are welcome to use.
