Rolling hills, bustling market towns, rich history and stunning beaches - have we persuaded you to holiday in Dorset yet? Finding a lovely cottage to stay in is the only thing you have left to organise! Nestled in a row of four beautiful Victorian cottages, Woodcutter's Cottage could be the perfect choice. The cottage has been fabulously renovated and maintains many original features.
Sink back into the super-comfortable sofa and pour a glass of bubbly - you are on holiday after all. If you can tear yourself away from the comforting flickers of the wood-burner then be sure to cook up a treat in the excellently equipped kitchen. On those summer days, light up the barbecue and enjoy dining al fresco on your very own private patio.
After a busy day exploring what Dorset has to offer, take yourself to the beautiful bedrooms upstairs where you will be assured of a restful night's sleep. Also on this floor is the lovely family bathroom, what a delight!
The welcoming owners live in the main house but you are assured of the upmost privacy so you can switch off and enjoy your holiday.
The grounds at Dominey's Yard are fabulous and guests are very welcome to explore the 2.5 acres of gardens where we are sure a game of hide-and-seek has to be on the agenda! A hearty vegetable patch offers guests the chance to purchase excellent produce from the owners; the farm to fork journey is almost non-existent which is sure to make your family meals that bit more special.
Once you have finished exploring the gardens, head to the outdoor heated swimming pool (open May to September and shared with three other cottages) where you are sure to make many happy holiday memories.
For larger family groups or celebrations (accommodating up to 18 guests), Dominey's Yard offers the ideal escape where everyone can have their own space. Other cottages available are Poacher's Cottage (4522), Gamekeeper's Cottage (4523) and Gardener's Cottage (4525)
Buckland Newton is home to the Gaggle of Geese, a friendly local pub known for serving great food and only a short stroll from the cottage. The Old Chapel village store is perfect for stocking up on locally-sourced produce. Further afield is the county town of Dorchester that still has a weekly market and is rich with Thomas Hardy history. Just five miles away from Poacher's Cottage is the infamous Cerne Abbas Giant, an ancient figure sculpted in to the hillside. For a spot of retail therapy head to the historic town of Sherborne where there are many independent boutique shops waiting to be explored.
A holiday to Dorset is of course not complete without a trip to the Jurassic Coast and within 45 minutes you will be met by the coastal beauty of this county. The seaside town of Weymouth, with its award-winning beach and mix of attractions is well worth a visit.
