If you dream of peace and tranquility, of enjoying a chilled glass of rosé whilst lazing in a hammock watching the ebbing tide, or of magical starlit evenings, you have found the ultimate waterfront destination.

The atmosphere of Swallows and Amazons and summers gone by is epitomised in this luxury homestay, which nestles on the shore of romantic Restronguet Creek. Imagine being surrounded by family and friends, all gathered around the large outdoor slate dining-table with views across the estuary, watching the sunlight dance and sparkle upon the water. It’s the perfect place for those seeking a restful retreat that feels remote, yet is less than a 10 minute drive to the centre of Truro with it's many shops, restaurants and bars.

Found at the end of a narrow lane, step into the realm of Calm Waters. The light-filled interior exudes classic coastal chic. The open plan kitchen/dining-room, with views from the table to be enjoyed by all, is a fabulous space with every appliance on hand to create a gastronomic delight using fresh local produce. A fantastic sitting-room – complete with large sofas, stripped floorboards, and opening glass doors to showcase the magnificent views – is the ideal spot to lose yourself in a good book or snuggle down for a relaxing afternoon nap. The sun-room has glorious water views and a handy desk for planning your day’s adventure, on sea or land.

Bedrooms are beautifully styled; the twin bedroom and king-size bedroom are on the ground floor and share the family shower-room, both have views over parts of the garden. Up the spiral staircase is a real hideaway – the master bedroom with a luxurious super-king sized bed, en suite shower-room and the most spectacular views to revel in.

The large lawned garden faces south and west capturing the sun throughout the day. With its own water frontage and private quay, calm tidal waters are easily explored by kayak, paddleboard or boat. You will be pushed to stray from this gorgeous garden with its delightful seating areas in which to rest awhile, unwind and feel the stress melt away. As the tide ebbs and the curlews call, long evenings on the lavender-filled terrace melt into enchanting moonlit nights.

This is a pretty, sheltered and unspoiled part of Cornwall. Hidden creeks, surrounded by ancient oak woodland, call to be explored by foot, car or by water, with herons, egrets and kingfishers perched by the water’s edge, waiting to be spotted along the way. The famous 13th Century Pandora Inn lies just across the creek, its pontoon is a lovely location for crabbing – something the whole family will enjoy. Loe Beach, only a five minute drive from the house, has a water sports centre and charming cafe. The National Trust garden at Trelissick is also only a stone’s throw away and the nearby King Harry Ferry is your route to the peaceful Roseland peninsula which offers serene sandy beaches and wonderful walks. There is an easy cycle ride to Devoran with its lovely village pub. From here the old tram way cycle trail leads 11 miles to Portreath on the north coast; cycle hire available nearby.
