Wow – what a house, what a setting, what a view!!! Looking for the ultimate excuse to gather family and friends for the perfect seaside escape? Then head down to Shearwater – it is simply stunning! Set on a little patch of epic coast in the so-called forgotten corner of Cornwall, this beachside beauty wraps you in complete luxury whilst you soak in those breathtaking far reaching sea views of Whitsand Bay.
Found in the pretty hamlet of Portwrinkle, the beach, historic harbour and coastal walks are a mere stone's throw away, as is the links golf course for those who want to put their handicap to the test, and to indulge in some good old Cornish hospitality the village pub is a 10 minute stroll up the hill.
You'll while away your days gathered in the open plan living-room with bi-folding doors so you can soak in that view whatever the weather, relaxing on the balconies enjoying a good holiday read, enjoying fun filled hours in the games-room or lazing on the roof terrace with the ultimate bird's eye view of this most stunning of settings – it is quite magical.
Set over four floors to take full advantage of the view, set yourself to Cornish time from the minute you step inside. Store surfboards, walking boots, golf clubs and any other holiday gear you need to bring with you in the large entrance hall, and if you can't manage the stairs there's a lift that will transport you as far as the second floor. The stylish open plan living-room has the sleekest of kitchens and all that you need to cater for a crowd, and you are sure to linger for many an hour at the dining-table telling tales of your day exploring the south Cornish coast or planning your next adventure. The sitting-area takes pride of place to make the most of the view and fling open those bi-fold doors to spill out onto the balcony – this is coastal living at its very best.
The boutique style bedrooms and four contemporary bath and shower rooms are spread over three floors most with either Juliet balconies or full balconies so you can really saviour the sounds of the seaside, and the porthole in the fifth bedroom set high on the third floor (which can also be set up as a snug) provides the perfect lookout point. Enjoy more family time together with a game of table-tennis or table-football in the garage, and to distract your opponent open up the garage doors to let the view mesmerize them!
Last and certainly by no means least is the roof terrace – proving the ultimate bird's eye view of this glorious setting. From lounging in the deck chairs, dining under the stars or soaking in the hot tub (due to be installed in March) – it really does have the wow factor.
From this wonderful location on the Rame peninsula you can enjoy the magic of beautiful seascapes, bays, beaches and coves and endless miles of stunning coastal footpaths.
The historic houses and gardens of Mount Edgcumbe and Antony (National Trust) are close by as is the renowned Port Eliot, home of the annual festival and a whole host of events held throughout the year. The charming twinned coastal villages of Kingsand and Cawsand, with their winding streets, pastel coloured cottages and a great choice of places to eat and drink are well worth a visit and for a complete contrast, head to the maritime city of Plymouth to visit the historic Barbican, famous Plymouth Hoe and the city's latest hotspot, The Royal William Yard.
