This very attractive thatched, detached property is in a tucked away rural setting in unspoilt west Dorset. Old Sandpitts Lodge is a very easy short drive inland from the fabulous cliffs, coastal paths and beaches of the World Heritage Jurassic Coast - including West Bay at Bridport, Burton Bradstock, Charmouth and Lyme Regis on the Dorset/east Devon border - which stretches for miles in each direction.

Set in the grounds of an historic manor house but not overlooked by it, there is a really large open, south-facing garden which has a lovely outlook towards the private gardens and lakes of the manor. There is also a little seating-area to the front of the Lodge which faces into the original farmyard, where you have your own access and ample parking space.

Old Sandpitts Lodge is a newly renovated and furnished cottage offering flexible accommodation for up to six guests. The sitting-room, kitchen, dining-room, spacious main bedroom and bathroom are all on the ground floor. The second double bedroom and the twin bedroom are both on the first floor (please mind your head on the sloping ceilings). This is a really ideal holiday cottage and it is presented beautifully and to a very high standard.

A short walk away along the road (please take care), on the other side of the owner's grounds, is Old Sandpitts Cottage (4504); a secluded cottage sleeping four guests. The Lodge and Cottage can be booked together for larger groups of up to 10 guests, providing a great option for family gatherings whilst being able to enjoy your own space.

Fishing (carp and eel) is possible on the owner's private lakes during certain periods of the year. This is by private arrangement with the owner and a fee is charged. Please contact us if you are interested in fishing during your stay.

As well as the dramatic coastline, rural west Dorset is so unspoilt and beautiful. You will find villages that feel like stepping back in time, the friendliest of local pubs celebrating delicious Dorset produce, historic market towns such as Beaminster and Bridport and upland areas such as Eggardon Hill (a stunning Iron Age hill fort) and Colmers Hill for walks with panoramic views.

Old Sandpitts Lodge is between the pretty Dorset villages of Broadwindsor and Drimpton and the great advantage of this location is that you will be close to the south Somerset and east Devon borders too. You will not be short of places to explore, historic houses to visit, coastal paths and country footpaths to follow.

The setting is in the grounds of a wonderful historic manor house. Guests have their own large garden-area but please note that there are deep lakes within the owners' grounds, so please do not let children wander beyond your own garden. Whilst not a working farm, there are lots of animals to admire, sheep in the 'three corner field' and often in the paddock right next to the Lodge, ducks and geese on the lake and of course lots of wildlife, hence the original farmstead yard is used by the owner for access to the barn and for access at feeding time but great care is taken to ensure that you are not unduly disturbed. *A cot is not provided, bring your own travel cot.
