This elegant Georgian town house is just 14 miles due south of the breath-taking historic city of Bath. Set close to the heart of the market town of Frome, in easy to reach but beautifully rural north Somerset, this stunning property accommodates up to eight guests but also offers a great price for a smaller group of four. Short breaks are available throughout the year.
The Georgian House is in a very quiet road at the heart of the Georgian quarter of Frome - famed for its monthly artisan food market and the quirky shops of cobbled St Catherine's, just a short stroll away. You can drop off your bags and then use the unlimited free parking just 100 yards further along the road.
Typical of classic three-storey Georgian townhouses there are sash windows with wooden shutters, high ceilings, and wonderful fireplaces - including a wood-burning stove in the grand master bedroom - all perfectly balanced with an incredible contemporary make-over.
The bi-fold glass wall of the open plan kitchen/dining-room opens right up to the sheltered sun-trap garden which is fully enclosed and which has a large gas barbecue. This stunning sociable inside-outside space is likely to be where you will spend most of your time but there is a separate sitting-room too with a 'curl up on' L-shaped sofa and a wood-burning stove for cosy evenings. Four exceptional bedrooms - two with super king-sized beds - two glamorous bath/shower rooms on the first and second floors and a cloakroom downstairs, make this house a perfect base for a family or group of friends; for a full week exploring or a short break celebrating a special occasion.
An easy drive takes you to the Roman city of Bath just 14 miles away. If you decide to explore further south into Somerset, the Cathedral City of Wells is 18 miles away and colourful Glastonbury with its iconic tor overlooking the unique Somerset Levels is 22 miles away. For an all-ages family outing Longleat Safari Park is just six miles away. The extraordinary internationally acclaimed Hauser & Wirth Gallery at Bruton is 11 miles away and there is a wonderful new place to visit there too - The Newt - a fabulous country estate with wonderful gardens that are open to the public.
The surrounding countryside has much to offer too. From the woodland and lake at the National Trust gardens at Stourhead to the wilder high spaces of the Mendip Hills and of course Cheddar Gorge. Try the lesser known Ebbor Gorge for a challenging walk or Burrington Combe where white goats graze on the sheer sides. The unique Somerset Levels - a haven for wildlife and migrating birds - are criss-crossed with tracks and trails that run for miles, often as straight as an arrow, and are ideal for cycling. There is even a cycle trail just about on the doorstep taking you from Frome into the heart of Bath.
