Lovers of the countryside and wildlife enthusiasts will find their own little piece of heaven on earth at Moreton Mill. Beautifully renovated from its origins as a corn mill, this unique holiday home is located right on the Devon and Cornwall border and is surrounded by lush countryside providing the perfect escape from the humdrum of everyday life and there's the added attraction of live CCTV footage of the resident Barn Owls.
Located over three floors, the main living accommodation on the first floor takes full advantage of the wonderful setting, with the master bedroom suite on the second floor and the other two bedrooms on the ground floor, providing great flexibility and privacy for families and groups of friends. Spend your days enjoying the wonderful garden and surrounding countryside or take the short drive to the coast to discover the many delights on offer on the north Cornwall and Devon coastline.
Dating back to the 17th Century, Moreton Mill has been renovated in a most sympathetic style to provide a lovely comfortable holiday home whilst retaining some of the Mill's original features. The spacious entrance hall is the ideal place to leave all your holiday gear and with the bathroom on the ground floor you can jump straight into the bath after a day on the beach. The dual-aspect country-style kitchen leads into the sitting/dining-room where you can snuggle up in front of the wood-burner watching a great film, enjoy holiday meals at the dining-table or take your meals outside onto the balcony.
Both young and old will enjoy watching the antics of the protected resident Barn Owls via the CCTV monitor which is located in the master bedroom - and if you stay at the right time you'll catch them with their chicks! Outside the magic continues, spot dragonflies, kingfishers and moorhens as you gaze over the fence to the pond, your four-legged friends can burn up some energy on the large lawned-area while you enjoy more of those countryside views and the 'Black Pearl' playhouse is sure to delight the little ones.
Getting out and about could not be easier from this great location. The popular resort of Bude has a choice of great beaches along with horse riding, golf, tennis, an indoor pool, lots of places to eat out, not to mention the renowned annual jazz festival, and if that doesn't provide you with enough choice of activities you can try your hand at watersports, coarse fishing and rambling along the network of trails and paths at Tamar Lakes. There are fabulous beaches and coves along this stretch of coastline and wonderful coastal walks to explore along with the pretty fishing villages of Boscastle and Clovelly. RHS Rosemoor, Docton Mill and Hartland Abbey are a must for garden enthusiasts and you can discover Cornwall of a very different time at the castles at Tintagel and Launceston.
The nearby village of Kilkhampton has two pubs and village shops to stock up on your essential provisions or you could grab a takeaway and return to your idyllic haven to enjoy your supper in the peace and tranquility of Moreton Mill.
