This beautiful country house and attached cottage are just eight miles inland from the seaside at Lyme Regis and the stunning beaches of the east Devon and Dorset Jurassic Coast. Champerty is a period property that is filled with character. It has a verandah overlooking the extensive gardens, which feature an outside pizza oven and a fenced pond, and has the tranquility of a rural setting, plus is within walking distance along a country lane of the fantastic village pub at Dalwood. With its gorgeous mix of traditional and contemporary interiors and flexible accommodation, this is a holiday choice that will really suit extended families and groups of friends as well as welcoming your four-legged friends.

Champerty enjoys an historic farmstead setting; you drive into a traditional courtyard with all the original buildings around it. The house is full of surprises with medieval origins still to be seen in the kitchen, which is very contemporary but has flagstone floors and a huge inglenook fireplace. As the house has evolved over the centuries it now also offers wonderful spacious proportions in the sitting-room, dining-room and bedrooms, with high ceilings, beautiful sash windows and a gorgeous verandah with valley views at the front. A lovely snug with lots of games will keep children entertained if there are any rainy days but we hope that they will love being outside in the hide-and-seek gardens. There is a contemporary oak-framed entrance hall with a second staircase to a very private bedroom suite. The cottage, which adjoins the main house, offers excellent independent accommodation which links through to the main house on the first floor. Champerty has a lovely welcoming atmosphere and is very family-friendly. It is absolutely a place to relax, to enjoy the space and the company of family and friends. Out and about there is so much to do. Everyone loves the beach of course, and this coastline is dotted with lovely little fishing villages and seaside towns, from Beer, Lyme Regis and Branscombe right along to Sidmouth and Budleigh Salterton. Younger children will love the new Jurassic Visitor Centre at Seaton and the Axe Valley Tramline, whilst grown-ups can book a cookery course at River Cottage just outside Lyme Regis. Trinity Hill Nature Reserve is designated as a Dark Sky Discovery Site - a very special experience that is far-removed from our everyday lives. Just up the road, Millers farm shop will give you a taste of the best that the local producers have to offer.
