Tucked away from view behind the owners’ Georgian home, The Garden Lodge is a welcoming retreat on the edge of Helston making it the perfect base for exploring this unspoilt area of Cornwall.

Well-equipped and comfortably furnished, with off road parking and a private garden, this small but perfectly formed conversion is only four miles from the foodie destination of Porthleven and a short stroll into the pretty market town where there is a large choice of friendly cafes and restaurants as well as the local cinema and museum.

If you like to cook then why not pop to one of the local farmers markets, farm shops or local suppliers to stock up on locally-sourced produce and for the basics you can also find a Sainsbury’s, Tesco and Lidl all within a short distance. Whether you like to spend your time actively exploring this beautiful and rugged part of Cornwall or prefer to take things at a slower pace, when you return to base at the end of a busy day there is always a warm welcome to greet you.

The property is located on the outskirts of the town and this central location is perfect for exploring on foot, especially in the evening when you can wander down for a meal or a drink in one of the many local pubs, restaurants, cafes and takeaways – the choice is yours!

For those wanting to explore by foot or bicycle, there are walks and cycle tracks on the doorstep around the areas of the Penrose Estate and Loe Bar and if you want to bring your own two wheeled companion, the friendly and accommodating owners can offer guests secure storage. Alternatively you can hire bicycles just down the road at the Coronation Park boating lake and, after a bite to eat in the lakeside cafe, why not also take a boat out onto the lake?

If food is your passion then a visit to the nearby pretty fishing village of Porthleven is a must, here you will find a fantastic selection of restaurants to suit all budgets, many serving local fish and seafood. For a spot of retail therapy before or after food there are also some super little shops around the harbour selling locally crafted gifts or if you want to make a day of it, then the maritime town of Falmouth and the Cathedral City of Truro are both around half an hour away in the car.
