The fabulous Hayloft is the perfect place for a good old-fashioned family holiday, set on a 260 acre farm in the heart of east Devon, just a few miles from the popular market town of Honiton and close to the Blackdown Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Sat at the far end of the spacious meadow, this sturdy, super-sized safari tent has the same wonderful far-reaching countryside views as its neighbours - it's just a little further to push your wheelbarrow of glamping supplies, but a great way to set the scene and start your holiday here.
Much of the beautifully designed interior is bespoke, from the king-size cabin bed and quirky apple crate storage to the well-equipped kitchen - complete with a two-ring hob and fridge/freezer - and there are even USB sockets for charging those all-important devices. All the lighting is cleverly wired in with no sockets and you even have a wired in hairdryer too! The gorgeous bedrooms are situated towards the back of the tent, one with twin beds and one with a king-size bed, creating a real home-from-home atmosphere and all have extremely comfortable sprung mattresses for that great night's sleep.
Beyond the bedrooms are the shower-room (with 5-foot walk-in shower) as well as a second wash-room, both with proper flushing loos, hot and cold running water and heated towel rails - yes, this really is glamping! The front of the tent is home to the squishy antiqued leather sofa, for cosying up on after a day of exploring, and the dining table, ideal for enjoying some quality time together over a yummy dinner.
The wide veranda offers additional living space as, with the tent wide open, you can have that wonderful sense of inside/outside living, bringing in the sunshine or the night stars! However, the best place for watching the stars is, of course, from the bubbling electric hot tub. Out-of-season you can be perfectly snug with the luxury of partial central heating (in the bedroom areas, shower-room and cloakroom) and the wood-fired range (logs are provided) glowing whilst something sizzles away in its integrated oven. And, when the sun is shining, you can cook up a storm on the barbecue and dine in the great outdoors at the picnic table.
If you can bear to tear yourselves away, there is plenty to see and do nearby. The small village of Plymtree is a short half mile stroll where you can try out The Blacksmith's Arms and the community run village shop which has all the basic supplies you will need as well as a good selection of wine for those sunset evenings on the veranda (or in the hot tub!).
The Cathedral City of Exeter is just a 30 minute drive and it is very easy to reach the stunning Jurassic Coast as it stretches along the east Devon coast (including the towns of Sidmouth, Budleigh Salterton, Branscombe and Beer) and across the border into Dorset and Lyme Regis.
The market town of Honiton, with its renowned antiques shops, and Exmoor and Dartmoor - great for walking - are within an easy drive. The National Trust's Killerton Estate, with 800 acres of woodland - ideal for walkers and cyclists, and visitors attractions including The Bear Trail, Escot Park, Crealy Adventure Park, The World of Country Life and Seaton Jurassic are all nearby too.
