Set in over 30 acres of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in a World Heritage Site in the stunning Tamar Valley, close to the Devon and Cornwall border, Swallow Heights is a gorgeous single-storey, double-glazed cottage boasting the most magnificent woodland valley views. Only a 15 minute walk from the charming riverside village of Calstock, with two pubs, a tea-room and gallery to boot, this special corner of Cornwall is the ideal place to recharge those batteries and enjoy quality time with family and friends. The large terraced area invites you to sit and soak up the tranquil setting, and enjoy the wildlife spotting opportunities – including barn owls, osprey, peregrine falcons and as the name suggests, swallows galore!

Inside will also delight. The stylish kitchen/dining-room has a five oven range cooker as well as a steam/microwave/grill convection oven and the comfy sitting-room has a surround sound TV system; both have a toasty wood-burner making this an ideal retreat all year round. The kitchen/dining-room, sitting-room and bedrooms three and four all have three-metre high sliding patio doors to the terrace. The four bedrooms have been effortlessly and elegantly furnished, with two taking full advantage of the view, making it very difficult to get out of bed! For those that want some quiet time there’s a small snug and even an office if you need to catch up on some work whilst you’re away. There is a gorgeous contemporary Jack and Jill en suite shower-room to bedroom one, and a Jack and Jill en suite bathroom complete with jacuzzi bath to bedroom two – these are also accessed from the corridor and shared with the two single rooms. The Jack and Jill bathroom and shower-room both have two tall, heated towel rails and a tall storage cupboard.

Being based close to the Devon and Cornwall border your choice of great days out are plentiful. Take a trip to Tamar Trails, with 25 kms of trails and outdoor adventure on offer, hire a canoe and enjoy your own river adventure or pop on your walking boots and explore majestic Dartmoor with its rugged landscapes and dramatic granite tors. Discover the historic Barbican and Hoe at the maritime city of Plymouth, or call into the city’s trendy Royal William yard for shopping, restaurants and galleries. If beach days are on the agenda, ride the waves at Bude and Polzeath on Cornwall’s stunning north coast or find hidden coves, bays and charming fishing villages on the south. Looe is worth a visit, a popular seaside town that is still a working fishing port, with its sandy beach, access to the South West Coast Path and award-winning fish and chips! The gorgeous National Trust property of Cotehele is right on your doorstep, as is historic Morwellham Quay where you can discover life of a bygone age. Pop into the charming market town of Tavistock with its eclectic mix of shops, cafes and restaurants galore and a daily pannier market, but if all that sounds too much like hard work, indulge in afternoon tea at either the renowned Horn of Plenty or Hotel Endsleigh – why not, you are on holiday!
