Burham Cottage

3268

4.4 miles SE of Tavistock / Sleeps 3 + cot*

7 Nights from £345 - £749

This pretty little terraced cottage is an ideal Dartmoor retreat in the peaceful village of Walkhampton, just a short drive from the busy market town of Tavistock and within almost immediate walking access of the moor – so perfect if you are bringing the much-loved family dog. After a full day of exploring this beautiful area why not hop across the road to the village pub which is waiting with a warm Devon welcome, fine ales and great home cooked food – a fantastic way to finish the day. Totally refurbished, it is a very eco-friendly cottage with solar panels providing under-floor heating in the sitting/dining-room, and full oil-fired central heating everywhere else, so the slate floors in the sitting/dining-room feel toasty underfoot. The kitchen is stylish and well-equipped with a stable-door out to a sheltered patio. The warming wood-burner, great for those wet and windy days, makes the cottage ideal for an out-of-season break as well as a summer visit. Upstairs are two very pretty bedrooms and a shiny bright bathroom.

No doubt you will be happy just to explore the immediate area as there is just so much to do – riding, walking, finding little hidden Dartmoor villages, sampling meals and local beers in a moorland pub – the list is endless. Nearby Tavistock is an interesting town with an eclectic mix of restaurants, bars and cafes, and a daily pannier market which often sells wonderful local produce. There is even a little cinema and a large pool to entertain the kids if the weather is unkind. All in all a perfect place to stay in this lovely part of Devon.
