7 Nights from £576

This stylishly converted seaside cottage, decorated throughout in natural Farrow & Ball colours, sleeps six. Arranged over three floors, with sea views from the top floor, Cutty Sark has a wonderfully cosy, welcoming atmosphere with a large squashy sofa and wood-burner it is a perfect coastal retreat all year round.

It is ideally situated in the heart of St Mawes; only a short stroll from the sea, village shops and an excellent selection of places to eat out, including the famous Hotel Tresanton and the smart Idle Rocks Hotel with its waterside terrace. If you prefer to eat in, there is an excellent local butcher for your barbecues on the small patio or you can buy freshly landed fish from the stall on the quay in the harbour and cook up a seafood dish in the well-equipped kitchen.

You can abandon the car while on holiday if you wish (Cutty Sark has a parking space which is unusual for St Mawes!) and explore the village, sandy beaches and spectacular coast on foot or by boat, or take ferry trips across to Falmouth or St Anthony headland with its wonderful coastal footpath. For those a little more adventurous, why not take out a rib from the local sailing school or hire kayaks and explore the Percuil River?
