This tranquil detached cottage is in a sheltered rural setting on the edge of the Blackdown Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with the beautiful Somerset countryside all around and just a short drive to the coast.

Hillcombe Cottage is presented to an exceptionally high standard, with a really bright dual-aspect sitting-room complete with a wood-burner, a cheerful kitchen/dining-room for family meals together, and two very comfortable bedrooms, one double and one twin or double, and the family bathroom upstairs.

Hillcombe Cottage has a fabulous large garden which is fully fenced so you will be able to relax with small children or if you wish to bring a dog. The patio is ideal for al fresco meals.

This part of south Somerset is easy to reach and yet truly unspoilt for those wishing to find somewhere peaceful and relaxing that is a little bit off the beaten track but not at all remote or isolated. The Dorset and east Devon borders are close by for days out along the stunning Jurassic Coast between Lyme Regis and Budleigh Salterton.

The garden is properly fenced and many of the beaches have dog-friendly sections all year round and so your four-legged friends are most welcome here. The owners are willing to consider two dogs by arrangement, please ask us. There are plenty of historic houses and gardens to visit here too – Montacute House, Barrington Court and Lytes Cary – and you will soon recognise the golden colour of the traditional stone. Ilminster is the nearest market town with its local produce market every Thursday morning and on every first Saturday of the month.

Treat yourself to a coffee – or a glass of wine – at The Retreat in the market square and see if there is a concert at the Arts Centre or at nearby Dillington House for something a bit different. Both have an excellent programme of events to enjoy. Otherwise you may simply want to soak up the calm feeling at the cottage, sitting out in the garden in good weather or curled up by the wood-burner out-of-season.

You are offered a free supply of logs from the farm throughout your stay.
