Oh my, this really is a special house, perfect for family gatherings and groups of friends. From watching fishing boats, yachts and dolphins in summer to crashing waves in winter, the views from Trelowen are stunning. This weather-boarded New England style house is tucked adjacent to the coastal footpath above the picturesque harbour in Polruan, a former fishing village of narrow lanes and terraced cottages just across the river from Fowey. Huge windows in the first floor open plan living-room frame the outstanding views, and the beautifully landscaped garden has raised deck areas with a hot tub, sofas and a Scandinavian barbecue hut where you can enjoy year-round outdoor meals, from summery barbecues to hot chocolate around the fire-pit in winter.
From Lantivet Bay in the east past Gribben Head and onwards west to the Lizard peninsula beyond, the panoramic views are breathtaking. Semi-detached Trelowen – which offers unlimited superfast fibre broadband – has four bedrooms and three bath or shower rooms (all with under-floor heating) on the ground floor offering flexible accommodation while the first floor living-room, light, bright and extremely comfortable, has sofas and chairs set before floor-to-ceiling windows, a lovely wood-burner for chillier days, a Bose Bluetooth sound dock and a dining-area just made for lingering over long, relaxed holiday meals. The kitchen-area has glittering granite work surfaces, a big Stoves range cooker and a clever rise-and-fall extractor fan (so the view isn't spoilt!). The garden is an absolute delight, south-facing and beautifully landscaped. Three raised deck areas house a cedar-clad hot tub, perfect for easing away the stresses of everyday life, with outdoor sofas for sitting back and drinking in the wonderful views. The icing on the cake, though, is the hexagonal Scandinavian barbecue hut with benches around the edges and a central barbecue fire-pit for cooking up amazing meals whatever the weather outside. With private parking (so rare in Polruan!) and a storage shed for bikes, surf boards, wetsuits and holiday clobber, every need is catered for. A short walk down to the waterfront brings you to the Lugger Inn, a wonderfully old pub serving excellent locally-sourced food, with a wood-burner and open fire for cooler days. Fowey beckons from across the water with a foot ferry crossing the estuary to the narrow streets which wind around ancient buildings, boutique shops and galleries all just begging to be explored.
