Apple Blossom Shepherd's Hut

2975

4.7 miles S of Exeter / Sleeps 2 + cot* (no children from 1 to 15)

7 Nights from £350 - £660

Nestled in a tranquil rural meadow yet less than five miles from the Roman city of Exeter and very easy to reach, Apple Blossom really does have it all. This gorgeous shepherd's hut is wonderfully fitted inside with every detail thoughtfully put together and provided. The small but beautifully formed wood-burner will keep you toasty in the cooler months and there is under-floor heating too! For cosy evenings in, snuggle up in front of the TV - with integrated DVD player, ideal for finishing that boxset or watching your favourite film. The cleverly-designed kitchen area has a two-ring gas hob, small oven, full-size fridge with ice-box, toaster and kettle, and the handy dining-area built into one end. There is, of course, a sparkling white shower-room complete with hot and cold running water, flushing loo and heated towel rail. When it comes to turning in, the bed has a gorgeously thick mattress ensuring a good night's sleep after a day of exploring - speaking of which, WiFi is provided so you can research the best places to visit and plan your adventures. Outside is just as special as inside at Apple Blossom - first and foremost there is a bubbling hot tub to sit back, relax and while away the hours in - bliss! A barbecue is provided for rustling up a scrumptious supper, served up at the lovely picnic table, and deck chairs are on-hand if you fancy reading a book al fresco (or a snooze in the sun!). Also snuggled in this picture-perfect meadow bordered by a burbling stream is Apple Blossom's brother Cherry Blossom, although both have their own separate entrances and are very private from each other.

If you can bear to tear yourselves away from this idyllic retreat, there is so much to see and do nearby. For eating out, the pretty village of Kenn is just a five minute walk away and has a renowned pub, the Ley Arms, serving delicious food. If you jump in the car, a five minute drive will take you to the village of Kenton where there are a few eateries on offer, including a Chinese restaurant and takeaway. For picking up the essentials, the friendly family-run shop and Post Office in Kennford is open seven days a week from early until late and, for local and artisan products, there are plenty of regular farmers' markets - Exeter and Ashburton to name a couple. If it's a bit of retail therapy you're after, the historic Cathedral City Of Exeter is well worth a visit and is really easy to access too - there is a park and ride station just under a 10 minute drive away, with buses to and from the city every 10 minutes. For avid walkers, Dartmoor is within a 20 minute drive away, for golfers both the Exeter and Exminster golf clubs are close by and the Owners even have bikes available for hire. For days out, the magnificent Powderham Castle is located in a unique, picturesque setting beside the Exe Estuary just five miles away and often holds events such as food festivals. Although you are very close to the city, there are also beaches within easy reach - Dawlish Warren, Teignmouth and Dawlish are all under 10 miles away and perfect for bucket and spade days. Beautiful Canonteign Falls (England's highest manmade waterfall!) is around 15 minutes away and great fishing is available at nearby Kennick Reservoir. All in all, there is so much to see and do here that one stay won't be enough - you will want to return to this fabulous shepherd's hut time and time again.
