Inside, the cottage is a home-from-home with its open fire and bespoke kitchen. Upstairs, the bedrooms are all gorgeous and, although there are no en suites, the bathroom is very spacious and there is the added bonus of a shower-room downstairs. Just down the road from Mays Cottage the St Kew Inn nestles in the valley offering wonderful food and gorgeous open fires. Of course, if you are on a foodie exploration you are spoilt for choice at Mays Cottage: Nathan Outlaw has restaurants at Port Isaac and Rock, and Rick Stein, as everyone knows, has restaurants all over Cornwall, and a cafe, deli and seafood school in Padstow. On the north coast of Cornwall you also have a wonderful choice of beaches – Polzeath is fantastic for the children to learn to surf and the sunsets are amazing.
