Spacious, comfortable and furnished to an extremely high standard, Owl Cedar Yurt really has got the 'wow factor'. In a wonderfully tranquil woodland setting, it boasts fabulous views from its huge wooden deck, and even its very own wood-fired hot tub.
The cedar-clad main yurt is eight metres in diameter, divided into sitting, bedroom (with king-size bed), dining and fully fitted kitchen areas, and warmed by both a cosy wood-burner and under-floor heating. There is an en suite shower-room and separate cloakroom, while an entrance hall/corridor links to the smaller yurt with a triple bunk-bedroom and its own shower-room with WC and wash-basin. At any time of year, this really is luxury glamping at its best.
So close to nature you can hear the hoots of owls and the squawks of pheasants, Owl Cedar Yurt is truly spectacular. The deck is an outside room in itself, cantilevered over the sloping ground to get incredible views over the valley, and the children will love roaming the nearby woodland, building dens and watching out for wildlife.
Owl is set apart from Pheasant, Buzzard and Woodpecker for privacy (on the lower woodland slope), sharing just a private parking-area, from which you transport your luggage with a wheelbarrow. WiFi is available, and inside it has a TV, Blu-ray DVD player, Bluetooth sound system, electric cooker, microwave, fridge with ice-box and a dishwasher; there is even a washing machine tucked into a cupboard with an iron and ironing board.
Whether sunning yourself out on the deck while waiting for the hot tub to warm up, or admiring the stars from within it when up to temperature, you may never want to leave. That said, there is plenty on offer nearby, with the village of Dittisham a mile down the road, the National Trust's Greenway estate a ferry ride across the River Dart and boating, biking and paddle boarding can be arranged locally.
Alternatively, visit the local pubs and cafes, venture to Dartmouth and explore its shops, galleries and restaurants, or simply relax on the lovely beach of Blackpool Sands.
