This lovely farmhouse is the perfect bolthole for exploring the north coast of Cornwall. The sitting-room has leather sofas surrounding the huge wood-burner where you will all be able to congregate and watch the even larger television. Slate floors throughout the ground floor mean a stress-free holiday for those with dogs and small children. From the dining-room steps lead down to the gorgeous lilac bedroom with an enormous en suite shower-room. Upstairs, the three additional bedrooms are beautifully styled and overlook the enclosed garden. So, if you are a couple wishing to have something just a little bit more spacious out-of-season, or a family wanting to share that special holiday together, we can highly recommend The Old Farmhouse at St Mabyn.
The parking is right outside the house and the beautiful enclosed garden ensures that adults and children alike can relish the surrounding countryside. Inside, there is space for all and the conservatory will be a very popular, snug room where you can watch the children while they play in the garden. Although the kitchen is not open plan to the dining-area, it is right next door and will not pose a problem for guests with young mouths to feed. The family bathroom has an amazing copper bath, whilst the master bedroom with its six foot bed has its own en suite shower-room. There is also a lovely shower-room next to the utility-room so the house has enough bath/shower-rooms for all. St Mabyn village is just down the road and has a great local pub and a well stocked shop. At St Kew Highway you can buy pasties from Aunt Avices, who has to make one of the tastiest pasties in the county. If you wish to buy locally there is a great farm shop down the road where local meat and vegetables can be purchased. The visitor attractions of the Eden Project and Heligan Gardens are not too far away to visit, and closer to home the Camel Trail can be joined at Wadebridge where you can hire bicycles and pedal all the way along the riverside to Padstow. For lovers of food there are a plethora of restaurants to enjoy, nearly all of which have a headline chef to promote. Jamie Oliver's Fifteen Cornwall at Watergate Bay offers a real fun-filled dining experience whilst promoting the use of local produce and young inspirational locals. Nathan Outlaw runs two self-titled Michelin Star restaurants in Port Isaac and Rock, and there is of course Rick Stein with his establishments in Falmouth to Padstow.
