For years the Owner and her children went on holiday with her parents, siblings and their children. Great fun and a host of memories but for everyone to remain sane they each had their own space, meeting up for family meals. This is something she wanted to replicate, so as the cottages at Lower Chaddlehanger are arranged around a courtyard they can be rented as a single property. For pricing and availability please contact the Booking Office.
Medlar Cottage (2595) has a good kitchen and a dining-table that comfortably seats 10 people, so a group can enjoy meals together too! Found in rolling Devon farmland in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty a mile from Dartmoor, Lower Chaddlehanger has far reaching views towards Cornwall. There is a pretty sitting-out area by a small stream for Medlar Cottage, another sitting-out area close to The Wool Shed (2596) and The Hay Barn (2597) has its own small garden. The cottages are decorated with real flair with the use of designer fabrics and up-to-the-minute fittings. The Owner tries to think of all those special touches that keep a holiday in the memory for years to come; home-cooked meals can be ordered in advance, cycling or riding can be arranged, and there is even a pillow menu ranging from luxurious Hungarian goose down to hypo-allergenic! For shopping and eating out, nearby Tavistock has a superb range of restaurants, shops and a local pannier market open six days a week. Being on the edge of Dartmoor and close to the border with Cornwall, there are masses to do and explore: riding, golf, kayaking on the River Tamar, or visiting the numerous interesting National Trust properties in the area. Not least Buckland Abbey, former home of Sir Francis Drake, which now has its own Rembrandt! Alternatively, what could be better than a good walk with the dog, perhaps a pub lunch somewhere and then returning to these welcoming and very comfortable cottages.
