1 Kingsdon is an excellent base for exploring this coastline with its chain of fishing villages, dramatic clifftop views and unique pebbled beaches.
Steps lead up to the enclosed garden terrace and there is another into the spacious ground floor with its wood-burner, a great kitchen-area with a breakfast-bar and a fabulous dining-table where you can spread out your maps and plan the day.
Upstairs the dual-aspect double bedroom’s Juliet balcony celebrates the valley view. This is a special bolthole, adjoining the Owner’s home but totally private.
This is a really spacious cottage for two – and dogs are welcome too of course.
There are lovely walks along the riverside just down the road and many of the beaches have dog-friendly sections all year round. Try leaving the car behind, stroll down the hill to the little tram station and take a ride to the coast at Seaton – a great way to see the beautiful Axe Valley and the wild bird reserves along the way.
Colyton itself is a very pretty small town and you will have local shops, pubs and places to eat within easy walking distance from the cottage. There is a fabulous garden and gift shop in the village where you can treat yourselves with something to remember your holiday by.
Food lovers will enjoy being close to River Cottage HQ just outside Lyme Regis and the River Cottage Canteen in Axminster. Visit the HIX Oyster and Fish House in Lyme Regis with its stunning views down over the famous Cobb Harbour.

You can take a tram from the cottage to the beach at Seaton! The little tram station is just at the bottom of the road.

The Seaton Tramway follows the River Axe, through two nature reserves down to the Jurassic Coast at Seaton.
Colyton lies in the Axe Valley - a wonderful bird sanctuary - the tram line can be seen in the background.
The cottage is ideally placed for the short drive to Lyme Regis just a few miles along the coast.
