Like the idea of luxury camping but not too sure about sleeping under canvas? Well look no further for the perfect solution – a tin tent! Rusty the Tin Tent, as featured on Channel 4’s George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces, is a former shipping container tucked under a canvas flysheet, thoughtfully converted and equipped by its product designer Owners to the highest standards. Set in a seven acre meadow (also home to Hobie (2611) and Woody (2612) the safari tents) in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty just a couple of minutes’ drive from two fabulous beaches, Rusty offers guests the ultimate and very unique luxury glamping experience. From the raised decking-area with its lovely views across the meadow, village and countryside beyond, open up the patio doors and step into the open plan living-room complete with a wood-fired range. The comfy sitting-area is a great place for relaxing and, for those cooler evenings, you can snuggle up in one of the soft wool throws. When you feel your eyes starting to close, settle down in the twin beds on the ground floor level or the double bed on a raised platform above, all with quality sprung mattresses, luxury linens and a privacy curtain should you need it. A wooden annexe off the main living area provides space for a double walk-in shower/wet-room (with hot water), a cloakroom with flushing WC and wash-basin and a kitchen-area with sink, fridge, two-ring gas burner and a double power socket. The wood-fired range in the sitting-area is the main cooking appliance and you can do as much or as little as you want – boil a kettle, throw together a fry up, bake pasties and rustle up a roast, or simply just enjoy the warmth it generates. Rusty is fully equipped with everything you will need including traditional enamel crockery, ideal for eating indoors or out, soft towels, reindeer hides, lanterns and an outside barbecue. From the parking-area, a short wheelbarrow walk with your luggage leads to this most individual of holiday homes, keeping the meadows peacefully car-free. As well as the seven acre meadow, there is a further five acres with a fabulous shared fire-pit which has far reaching views over the coastline – is there a better spot to end the day, toasting marshmallows and drinking in the magnificent sunset? An honesty-shop on site is stocked with a mix of home-made delights from freshly made cakes to frozen pasties, local produce and eggs and bacon to set you up for your first breakfast as well as some everyday essentials. After a day exploring you can enjoy an evening barbecue and help yourself to the abundance of fresh herbs from the ‘herb boat’. Days can be spent relaxing on the deck-area or in the twelve acres of meadow with plenty of room to play a game, fly a kite or discover the little wood copse complete with rope swing and hammock.
For the more energetic, the Owners can arrange surfing lessons (tide and weather dependent). There are plenty of things to see and do within easy reach, whether your interest is visiting old fishing villages such as Cadgwith and Porthleven, checking out geographical features such as Loe Bar and the Lizard peninsula, or walking the South West Coast Path. Rusty has been designed to meet all your holiday needs whilst enjoying the very special experience of glamping in a Tin Tent. Glamping at Chymder Farm is the perfect way to re-connect with nature, family and friends, and to enjoy the simple pleasures of life... without skimping on the luxuries!
