Seven acres of meadow near the sea, a designer shipping container with luxury furnishings and the stamp of approval from George Clarke's Amazing Spaces on Channel 4 make this tin tent a holiday destination to remember.
The ample accommodation is so well thought-out, converted with flair and fully equipped to the highest standards by the owners who are both product designers by trade. And they couldn't have picked a better spot, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty just a couple of minutes' drive from two fabulous beaches - you can see the sea from the firepit meadow.
Rusty the Tin Tent is a unique luxury glamping experience, expertly styled inside and perfectly formed outside with a raised decking area to sit back and listen to the birdsong while taking in the views as the children run off and enjoy the freedom. Keep those sliding doors open for the ultimate inside/outside living experience; the open plan living area has a hand-made table for food with a view, industrial light fittings strung high overhead, a wood-fired range to snuggle around on cooler evenings and of course those sleeping nooks with proper sprung mattresses and plenty of head height. Fresh luxury linens and privacy curtains make for a very good night's sleep after a full day's fresh air and long evenings around the fire-pit.
Step through the internal sliding doors, out of the container living space into the custom-made extension housing the spacious kitchen-area with sink, fridge, two-ring gas burner and additional double power socket plus plenty of storage space for picnic ingredients and barbecue fodder. The wood-fired range in the sitting-area is the main cooking appliance and you can do as much or as little as you want - boil a kettle, throw together a fry up, bake pasties and rustle up a roast, or simply just enjoy the warmth it generates. Rusty is fully equipped with everything you will need including traditional enamel crockery, ideal for eating indoors or out, soft towels, reindeer hides, lanterns and an outside barbecue. This extensive annexe also has a wet-room with double walk-in hot shower and a quirky cloakroom with flushing WC and a wash-basin perched on a log - a design feature George particularly loved.
You can leave your car out of sight and out of mind if you choose; load your luggage in a wheelbarrow at the parking-area and trundle the short path through the meadow to your holiday home, keeping the meadows blissfully car-free. In this seven acre meadow you'll also find the safari tents, Hobie (2611) and Woody (2612), the perfect camping companions should you wish to holiday with family or friends. There is a further five acres of wild flower fields for everyone to spread out in with a fabulous shared fire-pit and far-reaching views out to sea - is there a better spot to end the day, toasting marshmallows and drinking in the magnificent sunset?
An honesty-shop on site is stocked with a mix of home-made delights from freshly made cakes to frozen pasties, local produce and eggs and bacon to set you up for your first breakfast as well as some everyday essentials. After a day exploring you can enjoy an evening barbecue and help yourself to the abundance of fresh herbs from the herb boat. Relax on your deck or run free through the twelve acres of meadow - there's plenty of room to play a game, fly a kite or hide in the little wood copse complete with rope swing and hammock. Discover all the species of wild flower and spot birds and insects with little ones, or see who can find the biggest pine cone.
For the more energetic, the owners can arrange surfing lessons (tide and weather dependent). There are plenty of things to see and do within easy reach, whether your interest is visiting old fishing villages such as Cadgwith and Porthleven, checking out geographical features such as Loe Bar and the Lizard peninsula, or walking the South West Coast Path.
